Mailbag questions for The Scoop

Good morning, everyone!

We're taking mailbag questions for this week's podcast until noon tomorrow. If you have one, drop it in here and we'll talk about it on The Scoop.

Lots of football to discuss and break down. We've talked to Stan Drayton again, Larry Knight, Kevon Beckwith and Chris Wiesehan. since we last recorded, and we'll be talking to Dante Wright, Demerick Morris and long snapper Andrew McIlquham, who is on the Wuerffel Trophy and AFCA Good Works Team Watch Lists.

TUFB RECRUITING SUCKS

As per some posts I have seen on X recently by a former player and his Dad, Temple does not do even a remotely decent job of recruiting its local core of South Jersey, PA, and the greater DMV region. Several of our previous coaches recruited those areas successfully with great results. I appreciate us getting some players from outside of the region like Florida but TEMPLE TUFF was predicated on our core value of RECRUITING THE I-95 CORRIDOR - THE TUFF LOCAL, CHIP ON THE SHOULDER KID! LET'S GET BACK TO WHO WE WERE! THE ACRES OF DIAMONDS ARE RIGHT IN OUR OWN BACKYARD! THIS ADMINISTRATION AND COACHING STAFF NEEDS A SERIOUS PARADIGM SHIFT! GO OWLS!!

Listening to 97.5.....

Temple has long advertised on the station for football/basketball games, kid tickets being $10 on gameday, etc. and the prize for the mid-day show today is tickets to the Coastal Carolina game Saturday. Ray Dunne is also the producer and does play by play for Temple women's basketball. Needless to say they tried to sell it as best they can (the weather is supposed to be nice, bring the kids to a game where the Eagles play, etc.) as they were getting a lot of comments bashing the program, second prize being tickets to two Temple games, etc.

While the cohost said he thinks the program will be dropped soon, the recently rehired Mike Missanelli (and usual Temple hater) actually ripped the administrators and questioned why the program has fallen on hard times (again). He said they are not going to drop the program and while he understands the issues with NIL, if other programs at a similar level can win games more often than not, Temple should be able to.

Why keep QB Brock out there?

From what I had been hearing the competition for the starting QB job had been extremely close in the pre-season between Brock, Douglas and Simon.

But clearly, Brock should have been pulled at the start of the second half as he played very poorly in the first half.

Why not start Douglas or Simon in the 3rd quarter, and switch to the third guy in the 4th? It makes absolutely no sense to keep playing a guy who misses wide-open receivers and is not really a threat to run.

I can understand Dietrich not being prepared. But keeping Forrest Brock leading the offense the entire game made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Rock Meet Bottom

Well, here we are. Not just one of the worst, but officially the worst. Let that sink in for a moment. I still remember like it was yesterday when we beat Penn State, and College GameDay was here. Now, we’re right back where I hoped we’d never be. Come to think of it, were we ever the worst….

Gameday thread: Navy

How the Owls respond today should tell us a lot about the season ahead.

Here's Colin Schofield's preview. We'll have your coverage of the game from Annapolis.

Snap Count

Couple things stood out: True Freshman Sultan Badmus getting 39 snaps and Ashton Allen getting the most snaps out of the receivers.

Kyle do you have the PFF ratings? Faminu looked to get pushed into the backfield at times and got beat bad several times as well. Siani seemed to get beat bad several times as well. Not sure if those are isolated instances and wondering how they were rated. Do you think Faminu gets another start sat?
