2025 Football Scholarship board

Figured that this is a good time to get this out there. The obvious elephant in the room is the pending NCAA House Settlement and how that will impact Temple's roster limits/scholarship allotments going forward. For the sake of simplicity, I'm going to keep the scholarship limit at 85 until more information is available.

The other obvious elephant is that Stan Drayton's departure, as well as the pending hire of a new head coach, will have a huge impact on next year's roster. So expect fairly frequent updates to this chart.

That being said, here's Temple's current scholarship situation for next year.

Next season’s schedule

Not the most pressing issue at the present, but we only have 3 non-conference opponents in 2025.

August 30 @ UMass
Sept. 13 Oklahoma
Sept. 20 @ Georgia Tech

That leaves September 6 open for either an AAC contest or my preference a home non-conference game.
Scanning on FB Schedules left me finding only Air Force as a potential D1 opponent on that weekend. There are plenty of FCS possibilities ( no Villanova is otherwise engaged).

Emergency pod: What's next for the Owls after Drayton's dismissal?

In case you missed it out on the front page, Kyle, Declan, Johnny and I recorded a Sunday edition of The Scoop to break down Stan Drayton's dismissal and where the program goes from here.

New episode of The Scoop with Temple Deputy AD Craig Angelos

Temple Deputy Athletic Director Craig Angelos, the department's men's basketball administrator, joined us on The Scoop this week. He told us basically everything you could hope to know about the basketball schedule, the program's COVID testing protocol and the challenges of having a basketball season, the Nike deal, his experience in helping to get a football stadium built at FAU and how it all came together and much more. And he answered mailbag questions about the basketball program's plans for improving its social media presence, too.

The TUFF Fund

Good morning Owl fans:

As many of you know, the TUFF Fund was formed in the fall, with hopes of modernizing Temple Athletics through NIL. Over the past several months, we've signed over a dozen student-athletes, including all eligible Men's Basketball players.

We've decided to join OwlScoop so that we can provide information and resources directly to the most ardent and passionate Temple fans. We'll occasionally provide updates, whether it be signings, fundraising opportunities, events, or charitable initiatives that our student-athletes are involved with over the course of the year. We'll also answer questions to the best of our ability and within the guidelines of the NCAA and state of Pennsylvania.

I believe I'm preaching to the choir when I express how vitally important NIL is to the success of an athletics program. While it's been a slow build, I think that we are trending in a positive direction as a whole.

And while it's probably poor bedside manner to ask for something out of the chute, we currently have a donor who has graciously offered to match all funds up to $10,000 by the tip off on Sunday versus Houston. If you have the ability to do so, and many have already done so since it's gone live yesterday, please consider contributing. Our continued ability to demonstrate to the administration and the BOT that there is interest and a propensity to give to NIL will go a long way.

Mailbag questions for The Scoop

We're taking mailbag questions for this week's episode of The Scoop until noon Wednesday so we can work the Drexel game into the conversation.
