Temple's 2015 Wide Reciever Corp

Ok it's a little bit slow here leading up to camp and was looking at our roster and we will have a ton of gifted players at this position but who is your guy that needs to step up and take charge and be that guy.

Romond Deloatch
Brandon Shippen
Keith Kirkwood
John Christopher
Ventell Bryant
Derrick Thomas
Broderick Yancy
Matt Eaton
Nate Hairston
Marshall Ellick

Then after Spring workouts we get a lot of size from our incoming class

The guy I think that needs to step up and be the guy is Deloatch , at 6'4 has great size and seems to get open in key spots in the red zone , I'm not sure how they will use him but I hope it's a lot . Also I think Christopher could be our welker/Edelman type that makes that tough catch to move the chains. The two kids I can't wait to see are Thomas and Yancey , I think the sky is the limit for them a lot of raw talent.

Saturday's visitors

Matt Rhule wrote on Twitter that Temple hosted more than 120 players Saturday. Here are some of the names we were able to confirm:

Karamo Dioubate - 4-star strongside DE from Prep Charter - No. 9 at his position, 129th overall in 2016 class

Naseir Upshur - 4-star tight end from Imhotep Charter - 61st overall in 2016 class, No. 3 tight end

Johncarlo Valentin - Offensive guard from Imhotep Charter - 6-4, 329

Darian Bryant - 6-foot-6, 320-pound tackle and nose guard from Chestnut Hill Academy (2016 class)

Elvis Hines - Paul VI (NJ) cornberback, 2017 class

Thomas Mattioni - WR/DB from Downingtown West, 6-1, 175

Mike Arnold - T/DE, Montour High School, 6-5, 285

Daniel Jeffery - OT, St. John's College High School, 2016 class

Transfers/JUCOs

Figured we might as well have a dedicated thread.

JUCOs:

6'1 180 PG Shane Rector, Missouri transfer (from the Bronx, went to St. Ray's with Dingle, prepped at South Kent). 2 years of eligibility I believe. 3rd string PG at Mizzou as a freshman, so didn't play much. 3* recruit in HS/Prep with offers from Mizzou, Butler, Columbia, Dayton, UMass, Minnesota, Providence, Rutgers, SHU, A&M, VT, WKU. Originally a Rutgers commit. Was looking at Drexel, LaSalle, St. John's, and BC after transferring, but decided on JUCO. Averaging 17 points, 4 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.2 steals. Above average 3 point shooter. Turns it over a bit much. Can't find info on teams recruiting him now.

6'9 200 PF D'Andre Downey. Averaging 13 points, 9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1 steal, and 4.4 blocks. #4 in the country in blocked shots. From Milwaukee. Decent 3 point shooter for his size. 3* recruit in HS with offers from Minnesota and UWGB. Has offers from EKU, Cleveland State, MTSU, Austin Peay, and Missouri State. Minnesota, Wichita State, Oregon State, WKU, and LA Tech also involved. 2 years of eligibility remaining

Military Appreciation Day vs UCONN

Just wanted to let everyone know that this year's football game against UCONN will be "military appreciation day". I did not know anything about this until I renewed (and added two more seats) to my season football ticket package. What Temple is doing is asking ticket holders to buy a ticket for $10 in order to give those tickets for free to representatives of our military. I bought 25 such tickets and encourage everyone to purchase what they can afford.

Why the NBA sucks

Let me count the ways

1. The regular season is almost meaningless . Play 82 games and 90 percent have no meaning to anything

2. Half the league is trying to win and the other half are tanking . Great for meaningful games

3 The NFL has shown you why you don't have to play everyone to have a good league . Really want to see Detroit Vs Phoenix in November

4 the travel and the way the games are played makes it very hard for the players to play at or near their best . You go to the games and you can feel the players are just going through the motions . Sure want to lay down 150 to see that

5 they have rules that favor the players rather than the game itself . No one and one . Standing in lane for an hour . A hop skip and a jump everytime a player receives the ball and walking on almost every play

6 obvious favoritism in calls to the better players

7 the worst rule of all : get the ball out past half court after a timeout under the offer basket .

I could go on and on . College basketball has it all over the NBA . Anyone care to debate or add something ?

Oregon Article About Big George

http://oregon.247sports.com/Article/Oregon-emerges-as-a-candidatet-for-5-star-Georgios-Papagiannis-36591143

Who knows how much you can trust 24/7 homers (anyone remember Derek Piper from Illinois?), but he says George is 50/50 on college or pros and that Oregon is "one of a few schools deemed a favorite to get him."

This statement is interesting, it seems pretty inaccurate to say Temple isn't recruiting him:

Sources tell DuckTerritory.com N.C. State, UCONN, St. John's, LSU, and Arizona are schools also recruiting Papagiannis at this time. Prior to heading back to Greece Maryland, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Temple, and St. John's had offered scholarships in July of 2014.

Big Ted Fields decommits from Rutgers

I just saw on Rutgerzeera.com that Garnet (sorry, not "Great") Valley OL Ted Fields decommitted from the Little Red Schoolhouse. I've never seen him play, but apparently he's pretty good. Huge kid, too. He really plays up the "country boy" act (he looks like a young Uncle Jesse from the Dukes of Hazzard), so North Broad Street might not be his style, but Piscataway isn't exactly a cornfield, either.

Any idea if Temple may get involved here?
