Anyone hear him speak on 97.5 this morning?

Amongst other things, he said he'd like to see the PSU-TU game be a long term commitment. He said it's good to keep the money in state. He also went on to say that he recruits the heck out of Philadelphia. He made it sound like Penn State was doing the series as a charity for Temple, mentioning selling out the Linc.

I'd rather go 1-11 and beat them over 11-1 and lose to them. I just need one against them.

Mark Williams, I'm told, will be staying at Temple. I'm posting this because there was a lot of speculation about his status with the team. He did consider leaving but has decided to stay.

So with Williams still in the fold, the Owls have two scholarships open for next year if they choose to use them. Simeon Carter is off the board and headed to SMU, Georgios Papagiannis is still in play - but whether he stays in Greece or comes to the States to play in college is still anyone's guess - and Temple is working on trying to get Sterling Gibbs in for a visit.

Apparently Temple has interest.

We're now in May and the staff has yet to reel in ANY point guard, whether that be a mid level recruit or a 5th year transfer. To me, this is akin to the position Dunph put us in two years ago. The kids that do commit and the current BB student athletes suffer because of it. Dunph got pass 2 years ago--- he should not get another.

This writer, Bill Connelly does one of the most in depth reports Ive ever seen from a National perspective on every team in FBS. He really does his homework and is extrememly fair. All of his work is based on advanced metrics that may or may not mean alot but he predicted an improvement last year. This year, he puts us in his first tier of teams in the AAC saying if we improve on offense in the slightest we could contend for the AAC title. I will admit it. I watch way too much of the draft nonsense on ESPN over the last 3-4 days.

I watch to see how Chip Kelly "manages" the Eagles future.

I watch to see what players my Cowboys select. They take some risks every once and awhile. Surprised Jerry did not select that LSU O-line prospect with some "issues" to deal with.

The odd approach that I find myself paying attention to each year - especially this year: Which of our opponents for 2015 lost key players to the draft? For example, Penn State lost three starters to the draft and also quickly lost three starters to FA signings after the draft concluded.

I don't want to get into a long winded discussion on how PSU was a 5-7 team last year and not a bowl winning 7-6 team. However, I don't think they were a very good team last season. Let's talk about Temple 6 - PSU 6 in the third quarter at Crappy Valley. Not a well played game through 2+ quarters, but we were not "over matched" by any stretch of the imagination. PSU fans all around me were worried as all heck before the turnovers started to happen. Some well timed home cooking? By the end of the game, their Blue Kool Aid drinking legions of pedophile protectors were their usual smug fans who were more than happy to think they actually played well that day.

My main question after the draft - Can PSU replace those 6 players with equal talent and experience by Labor Day weekend?

Temple should be a much better team on Sat. Sept 5th then they showed on that day last fall in central PA.

After the Cherry and White game last week, Fran gave me more than 40 minutes of his time and talked about his approach to coaching, recruiting, his early days with Matt Rhule at Western Carolina and all sorts of good stuff. As you know, he's been the lead recruiter on players like Kareem Ali, Sean Chandler, Ryquell Armstead, Jeremiah Atoki and Greg Webb.

He's a great storyteller and a very funny guy. You'll enjoy the interview.

Temple also finally offered Vermont Academy PF Tyrique Jones, who is 6'8 235. Originally from CT. 3* #116 on Rivals. Offers from UConn, BC, Charlotte, KSU, UMass, URI, Texas Tech, Xavier, FSU, Cincy, Providence, VCU, Minnesota. He was at the Temple/UConn game and is very likely to commit to UConn.

Seems like this unit has the most question marks of any on the team... especially with the unfortunate news re: Dawkins.

I'm thinking the depth chart could look something like this:

LT: Eric Lofton, Semaj Reed
LG: Shahbaz Ahmed, Brian Carter
C: Kyle Friend, Brendan McGowan
RG: Leon Johnson, Aaron Ruff
RT: Adrian Sullivan, James McHale

Potential X-Factor: Jaelin Robinson

If this is approximately where we end up at OL, we're definitely going to have depth issues. Really need Ruff, McHale and Robinson to step up; especially with Dawkins gone.

When, I'm not sure.

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward out of West Charlotte High School was in last week for a visit. I've spoken to a few sources about his recruitment and all of them have indicated that he was considered an SMU lean at one point but that Temple made a lot of progress recently.

Information has been sparse today, but I'll most likely pass something along on Twitter when I get it.

I hope the kid can actually play. He could do double duty as a dormitory building!

Temple offered Imhotep Charter High School Class of 2016 offensive linemen Yasir Durant and Jahmir Johnson today. It was the first offer for both players, although Durant added an offer from Arizona State this morning as well.

So, if you're keeping track, Temple has now offered three members of Imhotep's Class of 2016 offensive line. In addition to Durant and Johnson, Temple offered JohnCarlo Valentin a while ago. Valentin has recently added offers from Power 5 schools like Pittsburgh, Arizona State and Purdue but recently told PantherLair.com that Temple was his leader.

Seriously, take a look at all of the Class of 2016 prospects that Imhotep has. If Temple can convince a handful of them to stay home, Matt Rhule and his staff will have a solid, hometown foundation.

Ja’Meer Bullard – a junior at Woodrow Wilson HS and star running back and linebacker with an offer from TU was shot and killed one block away from his home. Bullard managed to get his younger cousin to safety. The pair were simply walking to a nearby store when the random shooting occurred. My thoughts go out to his friends and family.
