And now, the rest of the season.

IT finally happened yesterday, no need to mention what 'IT' was.

7PM tonight, it'll be 24 hours ago, yesterday's news.

You have my permission to brag to one person at work on Tuesday morning, but after that, that's it.

I know it sucks, waiting your entire life to see IT happen and only getting ONE DAY to enjoy IT, but that's the situation, deal with it.

Their are bigger events on the horizon for your Temple Owls this season, and a loss to Cincinnati on Saturday night will hurt the chances for those bigger events to take place.

Yesterday was huge, no doubt, but it was yesterday and these Owls are forward thinkers and so should us fans be as well.

HOOPS TEAM

Saw a lot of the players at the Penn State game. Devin Coleman, Devontae, DeCosey, Dingle with a cast on his right hand and thumb (that can't be good), Jaylen Bond, Mark Williams, Josh Brown, Obi, a couple of others.

Big Ernest looks like his leg is stiff, but hopefully, he'll be OK. He's a big kid. The Argentinian kid was there, too.
Even saw Dionte Christmas, who is a wonderful young man. I asked him how he was doing and he stopped to talk to me. Nice kid. Hope he can crack an NBA lineup. If not, he'll make plenty of money overseas again.

Rhule has it right.

I've finally had time to soak in Temple's victory over Penn State. It was the 4th in the series that I have attended, and 6th that I have watched. I was optimistic like I always am, but had tempered expectations. As a Temple fan, I've been humbled many, many times. Whether it was losing to Fordham on a Hail Mary touchdown, getting robbed at UCONN on a bad call, standing in 30 degree weather in the pouring rain watching the Owls get burned by Ohio U with maybe just 200 other fans. I'll bring Temple basketball into the mix. Over the last 5 NCAA appearances, I've witnessed 3 first round exits, and two losses in the final minute to deny advances to the Sweet 16. As a Temple fan, you become numb to the agony and heartbreak, and the jokes and laughter about the football program, or the cracks about "One and Dunphy". So as a Temple fan you show your support because it's your school, and you're prouder of your education and work ethic than anything else, but you're hopeful about the future knowing that the best days still lie ahead. We may not have a bumper sticker on every car, glory days to remember, or the most color coordinated fan base. We just take pride in knowing we're 'Temple Made'. Tough. Gritty. Relentless. Blue collar. Philly Proud. We know we're building something special, and that it takes time.

Coach Matt Rhule was right. This win wasn't about Penn State - it was about the Temple community, and those Owls that have come before us. Those that have longed to have a seat at the big kids table. Those who believe we are a sleeping giant, yet to be awakened. Those who love their school, and believe in success with honor as much as their Central PA neighbors. It was our day. It was Temple's day. We were due!

There is still work to be done. If this was about Penn State, we might as well end our season now. Let's not play another game. However, we will carry on because this is about Temple! This is about Temple, 10 seasons from now. In the era of athletics conference realignment, Temple cannot afford to leave any doubts. We're here, we're heavily invested, and we're serious about winning.

Detractors, "experts", and media talking heads might say we won because PSU just played terribly, their coaches are bad strategists, or Hackenberg isn't any good. It could all be true, but MAYBE, just maybe, we are pretty darn good, and we are awakening, able to compete at higher levels. I know one thing is for sure: for 3 hrs on that day, we were better. We DOMINA"]["ED !

PJ's Shoulder?

JDC - Have you heard anything about PJ's shoulder? I couldn't help but venture over to paprep's blog, and someone in the comments mentioned PJ's shoulder is dislocated "from inside sources". Of course I'm taking blog comments with a grain of salt - but have you heard anything? Hope he's alright.

Historic win but fans need to step up

it truly was a great win against an instate opponent who always made us feel like we were the kids that were sitting at the card table and not at the dining room table . Move over because we have a seat now at the big table .

With that means Temple needs to show up for home games when it isn't Penn State or Notre Dame . We need to be there for Tulane and Memphis and all games . It is your investment in our program and it is our responsibility to do so . I don't want to hear I can't make it to a 12 noon game or it was 45 degrees or whatever . The university has lived up to its commitment to us to provide us with a legitimate competitive football team that will only get better . We need to get better as well . No excuses anymore ....... Invest your time and $$$$ in your program .

SACK OF HACKENBERG IS WORST PLAY OF WEEK

Folks, I'm not sure how to post this exactly, but via ESPN:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/218

They're saying Nate D's sack of Hackenberg on the two man rush was the worst play of the weekend?!?!?!

Look, I think Penn State Sucks as much as any rational human being can, but why isn't this the BEST play of the weekend? It's not like a bad snap on a punt where the punter keeps fumbling and kicking the ball back towards his own endzone. THAT would be a terrible play. This was our guys beating those frauds like a drum.

Thoughts upon the film review...

Phil Snow called an incredible game. 4-3, 3-4, Safety Blitz, Delayed Blitz, Ioannidis lining up outside, Taylor inside, stunting on every play. The play where we gave up the long touchdown run, Julian Taylor was injured and unable to cut across the Center to fill the gap. Mind bogglingly complex.

Although Coach Rhule correctly pointed out that the ten sacks were misleading, since a few came in the closing minutes, Snow created constant pressure forcing several errant throws.

Also interesting were the rotations. Obviously, the DL was heavily rotated, but the starting back seven seemed to be out there 90% of the time (Will Hayes, of course was out for a little while with an injury on that kick off).

On the OL, RT Leon Johnson really caught my eye – he did a great job sealing off the edge, firing out to the second level when his double team was secured and played through the end of the whistle. The Sack Walker took where he fumbled was completely the fault of Kip Patton, who, all things considered, had a pretty good game. Post injury he was getting driven back, before being replaced by Lofton at the very end, so it’ll be interesting to see if he bounces back. Johnson is still susceptible to an outside speed rush, but with the TE sets we have, that shouldn’t be too common.

How many times did you hear Anthony Zettle’s name called? Kyle Friend not only took his lunch money, but stole his girlfriend at half time.

P.J. Walker was as impressive as could be. Not only did he show fantastic speed, beautiful touch, and patience, but what was most important was that he staved off any frustration during the first 27 plus minutes of the game, and there were a lot of disturbing omens. Kid was totally unrattled.

Ventell Bryant had some real moments but after the alligator arm incident on third down, I didn’t see him on the regular offense unit (he was on the punt return unit)

Alex Starzyk had a tremendous game, really changing the field position. Sharif Finch on several occasions came within a hair of blocking a kick. Given this, I’d really like to see more pressure on the punter and less on the return.

Of the youngsters, Delvon Randall got some time as did Freddy Booth-Lloyd and Michael Dogbe. Un-seen was Karim Ali, which surprised me for one.

HELP!!!!

For the last couple of years I have been recording televised Temple football games onto DVD.

About an hour ago I sat down to record yesterday's game from my DVR to DVD and I kept getting a 'RECORDING ERROR This program is not allowed to be recorded' message.

I did some research and have found that a lot of channels copy protect their content and ESPN is one of them, WHAT THE F$&K!

I recently switched to Verizon from Comcast I didn't have this problem before, not happy.

Espn Espn2 FoxSports1 CBSSports Network are the channels that I have noticed I can't record from, never thought I'd wish all the Owl games were on Espnnews and ESPNU before.
