I was very glad to see that people commented on the absence of Ed Edwards
AKA NJ Schmitty at the game Saturday. He truly was a one in a lifetime fan whose
wit is missed,
I talked to his brother this morning and he informed me that their crew will be bringing the
conversion van, the red Temple "T" and all of his group to the UCF game, October 17.
He asked all to stop by and say hello. There is a cancer program slated for that weekend
and they would participate.

Barry, Schmitty's brother and I also agreed that the POSITIVE coverage for the Penn
State win was far less than earned or deserved. I read papers from Lancaster, Harrisburg,
State College, Newark, NJ, Scranton,and they were quick to downplay Temple's win.
That's typical for Temple coverage but better than nothing at all which has happened
in the past.

On another note, I asked about T.J. Simmons and his place in the backfield. Rhule said Simmons is healthy and practicing again, but it sounds like Jahad Thomas, Ryquell Armstead and Jager Gardner are all ahead of the former 4-star recruit at this point.

"He'll be ready to go at some point," Rhule said of Simmons, "but he's not ready yet."

Also, when do people expect to see more UA merchandise? Accessibility and diversity of Temple branded gear has always been a challenge. I'd love to see that change.

what about the idea of the team wearing throwback uniforms for homecoming each year? Am I being corny here? Think it would be cool to see and maybe they might even wear the unis from your time at Temple. It could spark some sense of tradition. Not sure if we would get sued by Russell athletics though haha!

Having taken some time to digest the win and see the meltdown of the PSU fanbase, the effectiveness Temple offense on Saturday needs to be called out.

While many of us call out the defense, and rightfully so, the offense put up 27 points on what is being heralded as a top 10 defensive is very impressive. With 9 different receivers catching a ball and a load of backfield talent, I expect this team to put some some impressive offensive games.

Awesome job everyone! Saturday sure was a memorable day.

Temple finally getting the monkey off its back Saturday and the 1980 Eagles have something in common and especially to me . Let me explain .

I grew up in the 60's and was a young professional in the 70's after school . For years I would watch the Dallas Cowboys beat the crap out of my hometown team . It never ended and Dallas would almost laugh at us
during the Tom Landry years . On a cold day in 1981 at the Vet , The Philadelphia Eagles beat the friggin' Dallas Cowboys up and down the field in a 20-7 victory in the NFC championship game . Not one single fan left that stadium that day because they wanted to celebrate and just be a part of finally beating and obliterating the Dallas Cowboys .

Saturday was the same for me . Penn State has scheduled us because we were a victory at the beginning of the year and they could put up big numbers against us and satisfy the alumni with another win . We were the proverbial " sacrificial lamb " . Heaven forbid that ever be able to beat them . That was never going to happen and it is the reason why they continued to schedule " Poor old Temple " . We didn't just win by a field goal in a fluke game but we destroyed them .

I remember this in 1981 that Dallas could have played ten more quarters and never scored another touchdown against us and felt the same way Saturday . Temple defense was so good that the they took the heart and guts right out of PSU . PSU was looking for the bus because they were a beaten team .

IT finally happened yesterday, no need to mention what 'IT' was.

You have my permission to brag to one person at work on Tuesday morning, but after that, that's it.

I know it sucks, waiting your entire life to see IT happen and only getting ONE DAY to enjoy IT, but that's the situation, deal with it.

Their are bigger events on the horizon for your Temple Owls this season, and a loss to Cincinnati on Saturday night will hurt the chances for those bigger events to take place.

Yesterday was huge, no doubt, but it was yesterday and these Owls are forward thinkers and so should us fans be as well.

Saw a lot of the players at the Penn State game. Devin Coleman, Devontae, DeCosey, Dingle with a cast on his right hand and thumb (that can't be good), Jaylen Bond, Mark Williams, Josh Brown, Obi, a couple of others.

Big Ernest looks like his leg is stiff, but hopefully, he'll be OK. He's a big kid. The Argentinian kid was there, too.
Even saw Dionte Christmas, who is a wonderful young man. I asked him how he was doing and he stopped to talk to me. Nice kid. Hope he can crack an NBA lineup. If not, he'll make plenty of money overseas again.

JDC - Have you heard anything about PJ's shoulder? I couldn't help but venture over to paprep's blog, and someone in the comments mentioned PJ's shoulder is dislocated "from inside sources". Of course I'm taking blog comments with a grain of salt - but have you heard anything? Hope he's alright.
