Golden on the hot seat

According to ESPN, Miami coach Al Golden is the #1 coach on the hot seat this season. Allegedly, the main reason for this is his loyalty to his defensive coordinator, Mark D'Onofrio. The defense has too many lapses at crucial times. Golden has a winning record while at Miami and his teams have been to several bowl games. Talk about perspective! If he'd done that for us, we'd have a statue erected at Edberg-Olsen.

JDC-Press Conference Audio

Hey John, I want to start by saying the press conferences/Rhule interviews are great as are all interviews you guys have done this year. I look forward to all of them especially now in the pre season. I was just wondering if there was any way to have the press either speak up when asking questions or have the person being interviewed repeat the question being asked. With all recording devices being focused on the interviewee, the answers are often given without the listeners knowing what the question was. Minor detail but I think it would make better listening for all. Thanks again and keep up the good work !!

KYLE FRIEND

Just listened to his interview on OWLSCOOP and he's so humble. He seems like a regular guy, a nice kid.

It's the most I've really heard him talk in his four years, and it was enjoyable.

The kid benched 225 pounds 46 times, and when he was asked about it and told that the best bench at the NFL Combine this year was 37 times, he was very humble. Praised the Temple strength coaches. Praised P.J., his fellow offensive linemen.

Very determined and will rip your head off on the field, but a soft-spoken regular guy off the field.

Bunch of '16 offers out

3* 6'4 NC PG Quentin Jackson. Offers from Providence, Cincy, Iowa State, Harvard, Charlotte, Tulane, Miss State, Rutgers, Ole Miss, LSU, UCF, Lehigh, Houston, Northwestern, Tulsa, DePaul, Tennessee, and a bunch more mid majors.

6'8 VA PF JJ Matthews. Offers from Providence, BC, ODU, Murray State, URI, St. Joe's, Drexel, and a bunch more mid majors.

6'2 VA PG Maliek White. Offers from BC, Cincy, Providence, UMass, Pitt, VCU, ECU, ODU, and a bunch more mid majors.

MD F Christian Matthews reported today Temple offered, but it was previously reported Temple offered. Not sure what the deal was there. Offers from NC State, VCU, Cincy, GT, URI.

Temple also offered 6'11 250 C Marinus Mouboe from Denmark. Looks like that offer is for 2017, as he's going to prep school and still has room to fill out considerably. Right now, he has offers from George Mason, Towson, Canisius. Here's some old film of him: Login to view embedded media

Cover story on Dunphy

A first rate interview. It game me a thorough current status of our basketball team.

All kinds of takeaways. A few for me:

Coach, always diplomatic in the public venue, suggests Q can do well for us if he applies himself fully. That jibes with my impression that he daydreams some and thus has not realized all of his ability.

Devin might start. If not, the obvious conclusion he he plays quite a bit. My impression is he was the second fastest player on the team last year (after Will) and this year could be the one to split defenses.

We again will have a committee front court as Big Ern still is rounding into condition. Yet it sounds promising as Coach lauded Jaylen's work that will make him even better; he was praiseful but more circumspect in discussing how Obi and Devontae will round out the front court.

Josh as all know will be the man at point. He will be different from Will and still has progress to make to become the defender that Will was.

Great story.

Weekend at Cinci

Anybody in ?

I'm in the preliminary planning stages of a possible road trip to Cincinnati for what may be the Eastern AAC Conference Championship game.

Possible agenda:

*Leave upstate NY Friday morning around 5-6 a.m. for the 10 1/2 drive to Cinci
* Check into cheap hotel
* Find good Happy Hour with cold beer and wings preferably within walking/crawling distance of said cheap hotel
* Crash early
* Up early Saturday morning for 18 at local Golf Course
* Quick lunch and additional cold ones
* Back to cheap hotel for power nap (showing my age)
* Over to Nippert by around 5 for some tailgating prior to 8 o'clock kickoff
* Watch the Owls "upset" the Bearcats
* Top off the night at a local establishment to celebrate the Victory !!!
* Up Sunday morning to drive 10 1/2 hours home with a stupid smile on my face the whole way
Note: ( Attempting to lure brother up from Orlando to join festivities )

2017 schedule

I know that this is a couple of years off, but with the scheduling of both Penn State and Notre Dame this season we can see the added level of excitement that is building for this program, so I think it is appropriate.

In 2017 we host UMass and go to Notre Dame and Army. What level of opponent do you think we should try to bring into the Linc for our 4th game?

Amir Tyler

Lakewood (NJ) High School safety/athlete Amir Tyler just tweeted a picture of cherries and changed his profile picture to a shot of him and a teammate from a previous Temple visit. Based on the conversation I had with him at a camp earlier this summer, I'd call him a Temple lean. Here's a story we ran back in mid-June.

Tyler has offers from Temple, Pitt, Syracuse and Old Dominion. He looked good in camp. I can't confirm, but I'm trying to find out if he committed.

Potential Addition to Class of 2015

There have been some rumblings that Temple could be adding yet another player via walk-on to this class. He's a legitimate 7 footer who comes from overseas (Africa). I've heard he can play a little but up until this point, haven't had anything substantial. I saw some photos online and, sure enough, there's a legit 7 footer in some of the photos....

Next to Kraft.
