Aresco Confident of Getting Waiver / Air Force Coach Questions their Placement in the MWC

I know Aresco has maintained the AAC is not looking to raid other conferences to replace Uconn but he hasn’t completely shut the door either. Meanwhile, the Air Force Coach made some interesting comments about the MWC today. Maybe they end up in the AAC?

Out of Conference Games

It’s supposedly common sense and we’re all supposed to support one another, but am I the only one who generally roots against AAC teams when they are playing high-profile OOC games? I know it’s good for the conference, etc., but I usually find myself rooting for the opposing teams in these scenarios, like hoping Cincinnati loses to UCLA tonight (the Chip Kelly nonsense aside).

Let's get a head start on mailbag questions for this week's episode of The Scoop, our weekly podcast.

We'll recap the Owls' win over ECU, share some clips from tomorrow's media availability and preview Saturday's homecoming game against Memphis, which is now ranked 23rd in the AP Top 25 and 20th in the Coaches Poll.

If you have questions for us, send them here and we'll answer them on the podcast. We'll start recording around 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Thank you all for listening and please subscribe, rate and review on iTunes if you haven't already.

OT: Philly Fans

This comes up often on our boards, so thought I would share.

It has been confirmed by Fred Roggin of NBC news in LA...an irate Dodger fan punched the George Washington mascot in the face at tonight’s game and was arrested.

See.........Philly fans are unfairly singled out - all fans are nuts!

Boise's schedule is a joke

Except for Florida State, who is not very good this year, Boise plays no one. Their OOC schedule looks like it was made up by "Cupcakes R Us". Their league has no ranked teams or even teams with votes. One loss and they must be out of the running for a NYD bowl with that schedule.
I don't see how they can be ranked ahead of SMU, Cincy and Memphis.

Randle Jones and Linwood Crump updates

Rod Carey talked on today's American Athletic Conference teleconference about the statuses of cornerback Linwood Crump and wide receiver Randle Jones, both of whom have been out with injuries since the season opener against Bucknell. Crump was incorrectly listed on last Thursday's participation report and did not play.

Both players, Carey said, could ultimately redshirt, but that's a decision that doesn't have to be made at any certain time and is fluid as the season progresses.

"I don't think we'll really address that," Carey told me when I asked him about Jones. "There's always a chance, right? But you've got to get healthy first and then you've got to see when that occurs, and then you kind of plug all that in. And certainly some of those conversations have started already. Randle and I are on the same page about it and we'll just go forward as we see."

As for Crump, he did practice today, Carey said.

"I think we're getting a lot closer to his return, and then we go ahead," Carey said. "And when he's ready to go - Linwood and I have obviously talked and we're on the same page as well - we'll address that as needed when he gets back. But really, until he gets back, it's not a question to completely (answer.) Because you can say, OK, yeah, let's redshirt, and then you get a bunch of guys dinged and then you're not redshirting. And then you could say you're not redshirting and then he never gets back and then all of a sudden, it's a redshirt. So it's not something to go ahead and really answer until we're back and healthy."

Cornerback Ty Mason, a player who could ultimately provide some depth without Crump in the lineup, did not make the trip to ECU Thursday night. Carey said it was due to an injury.

"He's working his way back and hopefully we'll see him on the practice field here this week and he'll be ready to go," Carey said.
