Tournament thoughts

With the B1G teams flopping so badly in the tournament it really appears the majority of these schools were over ranked and over rated prior to being selected for the field of 64. The media obsession with these high profile teams definitely skewed the seedings.

It begs the question, and offers a real opportunity for the field to be expanded to 128 teams. Obviously there were teams from smaller conferences who never had a chance of being selected who might very well have been successful in the tournament. Maybe Morgan State, Prairie View, St. Louis, Colorado State, South Dakota, South Dakota State, North Dakota, Toledo, Buffalo, Nicholls or others could have upset some of the big boys.

It sure has been fun watching the Davids' playing the Goliaths' so far, although most of my bracket selections have all been blown to the four winds.

Thoughts?

Temple in the NCAA Tournament

Remember those days? Feels like yesterday. Waiting on Selection Sunday, not worried if we were in, but where we were seated. Then listening to the analysts say, no matter where we were seated or who we were playing, “ “Temple will be a tough out”,”I sure wouldn’t want to play them”. “John Chaney and that matchup zone is a nightmare”. And they were right, we would watch our owls win and win, often upsetting a higher seed. Even though we never made it to a final four we played well and usually would end up getting beat by a better team, usually. I feel bad for the younger guys on the board that never experienced first hand, how truly great, how special, we were.

Am I living in the past, you bet. Unfortunately with Temple Basketball, that’s what I have. How the mighty have fallen. I long for those days. Let’s hope one day, hopefully sooner than later we will be watching a Selection Sunday, not hoping, but knowing we are in.

Alani Moore/Netflix.

Nextflix just released Season Five of "Last Chance U". First 4 seasons followed JUCO football teams. This season (filmed last season) followed East LA College (ELAC) in their quest for the California State Championship. One of the featured players was Joe Hampton from Hyattsville MD. who went to Dematha and the Oak Hill. Was a 4 star 6-8. Went to Penn State in 2016 but never played. as pointed out in the doc, He liked weed. A lot. He ended up at' ELAC. He's now at Long Beach State but in on of the final scenes of the last episode, he's shooting hoops with his best friend from childhood, Alani More II. Just FYI. All 5 season have been interesting.

Langel

He’s doing a heck of a job at Colgate and has to be in line for a bigger job soon. Not sure what his recruiting chops were while he was here (aside from his famous recruitment of Juan), but it seemed like he was instrumental in coaching up and developing guards like Ramone, Juan, Brooks, and Khalif.
