Temple extended two offers to a pair of 2017 prospects:

To date, Morsell also holds offers from the likes of Dayton, UCF, Siena and Towson. He's a 6-3 guard that mainly plays off the ball.

Nwora, meanwhile, has offers from Buffalo, Fordham, Pitt, Long Beach State and USF. He originally played his high school ball at Park School of Buffalo (NY), but will attend Vermont Academy for a year of prep school and reclassify to 2017. Rivals lists him at 6-7/220.

Tell me something I don't know

Laremy Tunsil's admission that he received cash while at Ole Miss confirms what many of us have been harping about on this board. We have been criticized for referring to the fact that we don't "pay enough" for talent. Tony Kornheiser on PTI today, acknowledged that every school in the SEC is guilty of paying players. "No duh".We questioned how Ole Miss was able to have the number one recruiting class last year. Now we know.
So until we get some big-time boosters with deep pockets, we will continue to dream about elite players coming to Temple.

Frank Darby

As we reported last night, Temple tight ends coach/special teams coordinator Ed Foley was at Lincoln (N.J.) High School in North Jersey on Monday to see 2016 wide receiver and former Iowa commit Frank Darby. A 6-foot-1, 190-pounder from Jersey City, Darby had been committed to Iowa for a long period of time, but never signed a Letter of Intent due to academic issues. Darby now has his academics in order and is looking for a new home for the upcoming season.

I've been told that it's unlikely that Temple will take on Darby as a member of the 2016 class for multiple reasons, including the fact that they signed a full 25-man class in February. The Owls, who already have plenty of depth at the wide receiver position, still have not extended an offer to Darby.

Foley, who was the lead recruiter on 2016 signee and Lincoln High product Kareem Gaulden, informed Darby during the brief visit to the school that Temple would like the North Jersey wideout to camp at 10th and Diamond if he chooses to reclassify to 2017 and attend prep school, per a source.

Todderick Hunt of NJ.com reported on Monday that Darby will take an official visit to Rutgers this weekend. Darby has an offer on the table from Iowa to join the Hawkeyes as a member of the 2017 class following a year of prep school. He's also receiving interest from the likes of Arizona State, Toledo, UConn, Kansas and Boston College.

Walk-on 2017 kicker

Temple has been scouring the market for kickers in the class of 2017 and received a commitment from Aaron Boumerhi of Philipsburgh-Osciola (Pa.) High School. Boumerhi is a preferred walk-on.

According to KohlsKicking.com, Boumerhi is rated as a 5.0 kicker and a 4.5 punter.

Boumerhi, who also held a preferred walk-on offer from Stony Brook, is scheduled to camp at Temple at some point this summer.

Savon Goodman update

Per a source, Arizona State transfer forward and former Constitution (Pa.) standout Savon Goodman is not currently considering Temple. The source added that Temple did indeed reach out to Goodman and showed strong interest, as @John Di Carlo previously reported.

Goodman, who averaged 9.6 ppg and 6.4 rpg as a junior at ASU, has UConn and NC State "on top right now." La Salle is also making a strong push. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Philly native is a graduate transfer and will be eligible to play immediately.

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported earlier this week that Goodman will visit NC State later this month. To date, that is the only visit that Goodman has scheduled.

As for Temple, they still have two scholarships remaining for the 2016 recruiting class. The Owls have looked at a number of big men on the market, including Performance Institute's Cheickna Dembele and Syracuse transfer Chinoso Obokoh. They are also scheduled to bring in Miami transfer guard James Palmer, a former four-star recruit from the D.C. area, for a visit later this month.

New position in TU Athletics

Found this and thought it was interesting. Temple is hiring someone for the position titled Assoc. Athletics Director for Development, Annual and Premium Seating Program. Prior to this, I don't believe there was ever a position within the department with this exact title.

"The Associate Athletics Director will be responsible for developing all marketing and promotional materials for premium seat and seat donation programs, expanding current premium seat donations and parking programs as well as develop future premium seat donation and parking programs. "

MATAKEVICH

The former Owls LB was in the end zone stands with whom I'm assuming was his mom and dad and another family member, plus a couple of former players and friends, girlfriends, etc., and when Tyler got up to leave midway through the third quarter of today's Cherry & White game, he was mobbed by well-wishers. Everyone wanted to take a picture with him. Adults, fans, parents with their babies. It was great to see Tyler holding a baby while the parent took the photo. He also signed countless autographs. His girlfriend and his pals were were waiting with looks on their faces like, "C'Mon, let's go." It was really awesome. What a great kid. He singed every autograph and took every photo. Never big-timed one person. I was really proud of the kid. Hope he gets drafted and makes an NFL team.

New 2017 recruiting target

After extending an offer a little less than a week ago, several sources I've spoken with have said Temple is very much in the mix for St. Benedict's guard David Beatty, who is ranked at No. 126 by Rivals in the 2017 class.

Although Beatty plays at St. Benedict's, his family lives about 10 or 11 blocks from Temple's campus in North Philadelphia. He's been described to me as more of a shooting guard who plays with the ball in his hands a lot, but he's often considered a point guard.
