The Scoop with Amir Tyler

Lots of good stuff from today's podcast with Temple safety Amir Tyler, who informed us in an exclusive interview why he's coming back and why he's been able to form a close relationship with Rod Carey and safeties coach Tyler Yelk. And he shared details about how he went through several foster homes before finding his adopted guardians.

Lots of good insight into his life and the mood of the program coming off a 1-6 season.

Bowls

Can someone explain the bowl picture? What bowls are canceled? How can bowls have teams with sub-500 records? According to Yahoo, Wisconsin, Penn State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky and Minnesota are all slated for bowls with Arkansas getting in with 3-7 record. I've got to believe there are more worthy teams out there.

Amir Tyler on The Scoop

We just recorded our second podcast of the week, this one with Temple safety Amir Tyler, who gave us a lot of great insight into the program.

If we can get him this week, we'll let you know and try to get last week's mailbag questions in for him. Regardless, we should have a pretty packed episode with audio from Rod Carey and lots of insight into the 2021 class and the recent transfer portal additions.

And here's our friendly reminder to please subscribe to The Scoop on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you access your podcasts. Ratings and reviews help keep Temple sports talk in the conversation there and are very much appreciated. Thank you!

Some quick-hitting information from today's National Signing Day presser with Rod Carey

We'll have a Signing Day notebook story up on the site soon, and stay tuned for our Signing Day podcast later today with audio from Rod Carey.

For those of you who aren't on social media, here are some links to a few of our tweets with information from Carey's press conference, which just ended about 10 minutes ago.

Carey did disclose that defensive tackle Dan Archibong has decided to turn pro and enter the NFL Draft, saying that Archibong is "going to be a (single) digit forever here." And with Ifeanyi Maijeh announcing his intention to enter the transfer portal, Carey was asked about depth along the defensive line. He spoke highly of defensive tackle Khris Banks.

Carey also had high praise for 3-star Camden High School two-way player Corey Palmer, who as of now is slated to play safety at Temple.

Carey was first asked about Georgia transfer D'Wan Mathis.

Again, we'll have much, more more as the day goes on. Just waned to share a few pieces of information here to keep you all updated.

OT TV watching

Since many of us are staying at home and watching lots of television, I’m curious to see what shows you’re currently hooked on.
Sports related: QB1 and Last Chance U are fantastic for football fans.
For dark humor, The Kominsky Method with Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin entertains both my wife and me.

David Nwaogwugwu

Here's our story on David Nwaogwugwu, who is finding his role on Temple's offensive line. After making two starts at right tackle (vs. UCF & ECU) he allowed just three pressures over 146 snaps.

New JUCO offer

Per his twitter, Temple has offered Tallahassee CC guard Tariq Silver.

Silver played one season at Eastern Michigan before going the JUCO route. This season, he's averaging 11.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, two assists and .9 steals per game. Impressively, Silver is shooting 47.3 percent from 3-point range this season off of 5.4 attempts per game.

Silver's other bounceback offers include Loyola-Marymount, Arkansas State, Siena, Coastal Carolina and Troy.
