The Scoop with Mardy Collins and Dustin Salisbery - mailbag questions

Former Temple stars Mardy Collins and Dustin Salisbery will be with us on The Scoop this Wednesday. They're looking forward to answering your mailbag questions, so please post them here and we'll get to as many as we can on the podcast.

Beyond the countless stories they can tell about their playing days at Temple, overseas and in the NBA, Collins and Salisbery are both graduating and receiving their Temple degrees this Friday, May 7, so we'll be talking about that milestone as well.

And as I'm sure you all know since it's been discussed in this forum, Collins and Saisbery are the fathers of talented basketball players who are now becoming Division-I caliber recruits. DeMajh Salisbery is a class of 2023 point guard who just finished his sophomore season at La Academia, a Lancaster charter school, and he plays his AAU ball with Philly Pride. And class of 2024 guard Madden Collins recently finished his freshman season at South Carolina's Irmo High School and plays his AAU ball with the PCH Nightrydas.

We'll take mailbag questions up until 2 p.m. Wednesday and look forward to hearing from you. And if you have questions for us as a staff about the roster, recruiting or anything else, we're happy to answer them as well.

And if you haven't already, please subscribe to The Scoop on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you access your podcasts. Ratings and reviews help as well and are very much appreciated.

We're looking forward to a great episode this week and very much appreciate your support of the site and the podcast!

Remaining committments

John

We are currently at 22 commitments and we are waiting on responses from Williams (LB), Dioubate (DT), Weaver (DE probably a DT) and Saloman (WR). If we run the table with these 4 that puts us at 26, more than likely a couple of the 26 don't sign, get grey-shirted or don't qualify, figure there are one or two others out there. Who are you hearing? Any lineman? Is Wiggins the former Cane commit still coming this weekend.

Thanks

Walk-ons earn scholarships

Former walk-ons Mariano Valenti and Rory Bell both earned scholarships, they announced today on twitter.

Valenti originally committed to Carey's NIU program as a scholarship player over offers from Toledo, Kent State and Central Michigan. He came to Temple as a walk-on transfer and was forced to sit out the 2020 season. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Valenti was part of the quarterback competition this spring and ended the spring as the presumptive No. 3 quarterback as a redshirt-freshman. He has four years of eligibility left.

Bell joined Temple as a walk-on kicker last summer and successfully connected on 5-of-5 field goal attempts and 3-of-4 extra point attempts after replacing Will Mobley halfway through the season. The true freshman Bell struggled on kickoffs, however, and sent five of his 17 kickoff attempts out of bounds. Bell will have four seasons of eligibility left.

Valenti and Bell have been added to our scholarship board here: https://temple.forums.rivals.com/threads/2021-temple-football-scholarship-board.13296/

The Scoop: Mailbag questions

Hello, everyone.

We're taking mailbag questions once again for this week's episode of The Scoop, our weekly podcast.

Temple wrapped up spring practice after three weeks, and third-year head coach Rod Carey met with reporters Tuesday to talk about what he saw. The big news of course is that he's named Georgia transfer D'Wan Mathis as the Owls' starting quarterback heading into preseason camp, but he provided some insight into the position battles at running back, safety and linebacker, as well as some injury updates.

We'll have some audio from that press conference and answers to your mailbag questions on the podcast, so please feel free to drop them in here.

Thanks so much for your support of the site and the podcast. We greatly appreciate it!

The Scoop: mailbag questions

We're taking mailbag questions up until 4 p.m. tomorrow for this week's episode of The Scoop, our weekly podcast. If you have questions about what's going on with spring football position battles, recruiting or even something quirky or off-topic, drop it in here and we'll get to as many as we can on the show.

Thanks so much for listening and please subscribe, rate and review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you access your podcasts.

The Scoop: Mailbag questions

Although we're in the thick of spring football, there's plenty to talk about this week on The Scoop when it comes to basketball. Aaron McKie and his staff doled out four offers to class of 2022 recruits in Roman Catholic High School's Dan Skillings, Phillips (Orlando) High School's Ernest Udeh, Pocono Mountain-West High School's Christian Fermin and Orlando Christian Prep's A.J. Brown.

@Sam Cohn talked to Fermin today and we'll have that story up tomorrow and audio from that interview in the podcast, so send us your recruiting and roster questions or anything else that's on your mind.

Thanks so much for listening and please subscribe, rate and review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you access your podcasts.
