Bonus episode of The Scoop with Chiefs Director of Player Personnel and Pro Scouting Tim Terry

I got the chance to catch up this week with former Temple defensive end Tim Terry, who has had a big influence in shaping the Chiefs roster that will take on the Eagles in next weekend's Super Bowl as the team's director of player personnel and pro scouting.

Hope you enjoy it.

Recruiting notes

I spoke briefly with Xylan Williams, a wide receiver at Texas' Bay City High School who announced he was reopening his recruitment following Stan Drayton's dismissal. When I asked him about where things stood with his recruitment following Temple's hire of K.C. Keeler, Williams said, "I never decommitted. I just opened back up my recruitment."

Williams said he does not plan to sign a National Letter of Intent this week during the Dec. 4-6 early signing period. He said he will sign instead on Feb. 5.

And I'm sure several of you saw by now that Dylan King reaffirmed his commitment to Temple after he also said he was reopening his recruitment after Temple fired Drayton.

UNT(-8.5) tonight...

...on the road will be a great test for the Owls and presents a Quad 1 win opportunity as the Mean Green sit at #52 in the Net Rankings.

UNT is 13-4 and 4-1 in AAC and own a big win at home over UAB 78-75.

Atin Wright leads the team with 14.1 ppg and is 41% from beyond, while forward Brenan Lorient avgerages 12.1 ppg.

Moulaye Sissoko, a Dayton transfer, nets 6.5 points and 5.8 rebounds as a 6'9" forward.

Not really sure how good they really are, but regardless, this would be a good one to get!

GO Owls!

AAC Bowl Games

I don’t know it means anything (especially for Temple) but the AAC is now 5-1 in bowls with wins over NC State, Oklahoma and West Virginia. Army still plays Louisiana Tech tonight and UNT plays Texas State on 1/3.

Meanwhile former members Cincy, Houston and UCF failed to make a bowl game and a UConn team Temple should have beaten won the Fenway Bowl over UNC to get to 9 wins.

4-star CB Jett White talks Temple commitment

Ryan Mack caught up with Jett White, the first 4-star recruit to pick Temple since Karamo Dioubate back in 2016, and you can check out the story here in case you missed it out on the front page.

Temple(-3.5) today...

...vs Tulane. Line was (-4.5) when I woke this morning. Tulane is currently #165 in Net Rating...Owls are #108.

Green Wave played nobody in non-conference with exception to Florida State who beat them 77-64 in Miami.

Tulane is 4-1 in Conference, with loss coming at UAB 81-69.

Kaleb Banks (Indiana transfer) and Rowan Brumbaugh (Georgetown transfer) are their big scorers along with Asher Woods, Kam Williams and Greg Glenn III all averaging just a tick under 10 ppg. Brumbaugh and Williams are their best 3 point shooters. IF Gray doesn't play...one less body to throw at Banks...Duradola, Keita and BATTIE will have to be enough.

We shall see if Owls can back up their big win with another good one and maintain their undefeated record at home.

**Late line move back to Temple(-4.5)...I like it!!!

GO Owls!

Rice(-1) on the road...

...today would be a good one to get in a bounce back!

Couple of common opponents, FWIW, Florida State beat Rice in Houston at Toyota Center in a tournament and Hofstra took them down 68-63 in OT at a tournament in the Bahamas.

They only have two players averaging double digits, point guard Tre Broadnax (13.4) and Kellen Amos (10.0), but they have several players in the 8-9 ppg area including Alem Huseinovic and Denver Anglin, both are 3 point shooters. Also, Caden Powell is a forward who can rebound, averaging 9.3 ppg and 7.1 rebounds.

It would be great to get off to a fast start today...

Owls playing for share of first place in AAC standings vs. Tulane

In case anyone is looking for a quick crash course on Tulane.

No Elijah Gray today, per Colin Schofield. I'd be a little surprised if he plays on the upcoming two-game road swing at North Texas and UTSA, but we'll hear more from Adam Fisher on that front later this afternoon.

Taking mailbag questions until 10 a.m. Friday

Good afternoon, everyone!

We're taking mailbag questions for this week's podcast until 10 a.m. Friday. As I mentioned on the football board, we were hoping to have a new episode recorded by now, but I've been sick. My apologies for the delay. So instead of advancing the Temple-Memphis game, we'll be reacting to it Friday morning.

Thanks as always for listening!

Can these Owls ball or what?

This win over Memphis was truly a team effort. Z, Mashburn, Steve Settle, Q, Shane DeZooine, and all of the rest did their part to claw this win away from the Tigers.

Sure our inbounding, ball handling, rebounding, and foul shooting could use some tightening up.

BUT THESE OWLS CAN BALL AND MADE A STATEMENT TONIGHT ON BROAD ST!!!

(And is it only me who is glad to see Nick Jordain lose after he quit and moved to Memphis?)

GO OWLS!
