Weekend official visitor

Per a source, Temple is expected to host JUCO safety Juawan Treadwell on an official visit this weekend. Treadwell, who plays at Independence Community College in Kansas, also has offers from SMU, Old Dominion and Akron.

Treadwell, the younger brother of Minnesota Vikings first round pick Laquon Treadwell, is originally from Illinois and had offers from Illinois, Minnesota and a number of MAC schools coming out of high school in 2017.

Treadwell had 32 tackles and an interception in nine games last year. This season, through three games, Treadwell has 15 tackles and three pass breakups.

Special Teams

Who is currently coaching special teams? It looks like Coach Foley is seriously missed. Special team play was a strength of Temple football in recent years. It is now a glaring weakness. The team will lose close games this season if this problem is not rectified.
Why is Carey getting a pass regarding his role in Foley's departure?

HC Rod Carey on my show...

...every Monday at 12:30P on weeks leading up to a home game. Have had him on twice now and I find him engaging and forthright. Regarding the media shutdown after Buffalo, he said he's done this in the past at NIU and it's not something that will be habitual but he just felt it was his job to protect his players this time. Next appearance will be 10/7 leading up to a big one vs Memphis.

Perspective (and Rutgers)

While this unfortunately follow our pattern of an upsetting blowout loss just as we get some momentum, I’d like to make a couple observations:

- the defense can’t be expected to win all the change of possession fights all the time
- the offense as a whole was problematic, not just Russo... more drops than the first two games combined, no cohesive gameplan once we were down, never established a running game
- special teams......... well, ‘nuff said

BUT

We do have a win against a ranked B1G
Russo has been better more than not
Davis will be a real threat
All our linebackers will be back for GT
Coaching up until now has been really good (except for special teams)
I actually give credit to Carey for protecting the players after s loss like this
We have been through 1000x worse

..... and then there’s always Rutgers who can’t even celebrate a TD correctly

Best Temple Football Comebacks

My good friend sent me a message earlier today noting that it was 4 years ago this week that we miraculously pulled out a late victory against UMASS. It required blocking an XP and returning it for 2 points. The type of stuff that only happens in college football, never in the NFL, where one team's athleticism is so much greater than their opponents that you can actually will yourself and your teammates to turn an XP attempt into 2 points going the other way. When that game was being played, all of us were in complete shock. We had just beaten Penn State and a very well respected Cincinnati team in back to back weeks. In the land of Temple football, we were dealing with emotions that I'm not sure had ever been felt before.

So the question that I asked was... is that our best comeback moment? What other great comebacks are we missing? Two others that stand out are certainly 2016 UCF... and 2018 Cincinnati.

Thanks for your input!
