ESPN+

We’re at an interesting crossroads. I don’t mind paying my ESPN+ subscription for access. And paywalls are the future. But when I can’t go out on a Saturday and ask for the bar or restaurant to play the Temple game, there’s a disconnect. And it’s kind of on ESPN / Disney (also the industry) to navigate that distribution problem. Just starting the discussion. For the last 2 years during lockdown, the ESPN+ watch at home model has worked. We’re exiting that era.

Sports are best enjoyed with groups. This isn’t going to work if the broadcasts aren’t delivered to where groups get together.

Official visitors - January 21

Still working to see if there are any other expected visitors this weekend but wanted to get this out for you guys.

Will update the article and this thread if we hear any other names.

Penny loses it

For those of you who have been on Aaron, be thankful we don't have this guy. This is from The Athletic but you can probably get Pennys' rant on YouTube. Never prouder of Aaron. Penny, as Aaron alway reminds us, no one gives a ***** how young your team is.

Bleav In Temple Football episode with Adam Klein

Adam DiMichele and I talked to Adam Klein on this week's Bleav In Temple Football podcast if you want to give it a listen.

Klein gave us a lot of great stuff about Stan Drayton and new strength coach Chris Fenelon, and DiMichele and Klein offered some good anecdotes about Chris Wiesehan. DiMichele put Klein on the hot seat to name breakout players at running back, defensive tackle, defensive end, offensive line and linebacker.

And if you're a Delco native or resident, Klein offered up some food recommendations. It was a fun episode.

Temple hosting transfer OL this weekend

In case you missed it, Cayden Steele spoke with Dartanyan Tinsley about his upcoming visit to Temple and his recruitment by the Owls.

Tinsley, who was a 2-time all-conference selection at NAIA Kentucky Christian, has offers from schools like Arizona, USF, Buffalo and Western Kentucky. Tinsley has already taken official visits to Arizona and USF and will have three years of eligibility left.

Staff updates

In the five days since he was announced as Temple’s new head coach, Stan Drayton has begun the process of putting together his first staff. As part of that process, Drayton has informed the majority of the existing staff that they will not be retained but has also afforded some staff members the opportunity to interview for a spot in the new regime, OwlScoop.com has learned.

Among the position coaches expected to be elsewhere next season are coordinators Mike Uremovich and Jeff Knowles, running backs coach Gabe Infante, defensive line coach Walter Stewart and offensive line coach Joe Tripodi. Cornerbacks coach Melvin Rice already accepted a position at New Mexico State.

Meanwhile, internal interviews are expected to occur this week. Director of Player Development Preston Brown is being considered for an on-field role, as is wide receivers coach Thad Ward. Ward is an interesting situation because, unlike all the other on-field coaches, he actually still has another year remaining on his deal. I don’t think that will factor in too much, one way or the other, but figured it’s worth noting.

Dan Sabock, who has served as a Special Teams analyst for the last three seasons, is also a possibility to stick around in some capacity.

Drayton also met with the support staff today, including 1-on-1 interviews with select individuals. Basically, to summarize, while no hires have been officially made yet, things are definitely progressing as frantically as you’d expect.
