Mailbag questions for Signing Day Scoop

We're recording a football recruiting-heavy episode of The Scoop today. If you have mailbag questions for us, please send them in here by 2 p.m. and we'll answer them on the podcast. We'll be talking about Temple's 2023 class, the roster and anything else you all want to put on the agenda.

Thanks so much for listening and I hope you're all having a happy and healthy holiday season!

Important roster news

Temple defensive coordinator DJ Eliot just told me that outside linebacker Layton Jordan, who led the Owls with 9 sacks this fall, will be returning for his redshirt senior season. Big news for the Owls considering they just lost an important piece of their defense to the transfer portal in Darian Varner, who signed with Virginia Tech today.

We'll have our 1-on-1 with Eliot and offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf available to our subscribers and have some of that audio in this week's podcast as well.

Disgrace!!!!

Just finished watching this disgraceful effort and probably the most embarrassing loss I’ve ever watched over the past 52 years. My Filipino wife just tried to calm me down and I told her….how would you feel if Manny Pacquiao lost to his Grandmother on national TV? Her response was…Yeah, that’s pretty bad! Yeah, I get it! Miller needs to shape up at the point and Battle needs to stop thinking he’s the best player on the floor. I’m so sick about this. Thoughts?

Commitments, new and old

JUCO offensive lineman Diego Barajas has committed to Temple, as has Miami (FL) transfer defensive tackle Allan Haye.

Barajas should have two years of eligibility left while Haye will have three.

Furthermore, OwlScoop.com has confirmed that 3-star linebacker/defensive lineman Tyrese Whitaker plans to sign with Temple on Wednesday. Whitaker has been committed to Temple since June but recently announced that he planned to look around a bit. I guess he must have not received the new interest that he wanted, as he's now set to become an Owl on Wednesday.

Time go Harbaugh.

McKie should channel Harbaugh at Michigan to keep his job after this season.

Agree to take a significant paycut to totally redo his staff.

When he was hired it should have been a must that he bring in stellar recruiters given where the program had been struggling in recruiting. And it should have been that he brought in a strong X and O guy.

Thoughts?

This horror movie won’t end.

Season after season. I don’t know how much more I can keep watching paying attention to this train wreck of a program. It has not been relevant since 2013! Let that sink in. It will be a decade. That’s how many graduating classes with nothing to cheer about? That’s alumni and fan support totally lost. And people wonder why we have apathetic fans that don’t donate.

I’ve seen enough of this sh*t show to know this season is going nowhere fast. Coaches to players better do some soul searching real fast. They are pissing the season away.

And we have players playing hero ball doing their own thing. Poor body language and gloating after they do one good thing—- the game is 40 mins. Shut your mouth and do work. What is our brand anymore? It is missing.

This is not (should not be*) temple basketball! Temple hoops is gritty, disciplined, punch you in the mouth, no turnovers, tough defense … where is that identity??! Long gone. Perhaps dead.
