Clueless Athletics Department Leadership

Here's what's wrong in a nutshell, Owlsports, the official website of Temple University Athletics, under the supervision of AD Arthur Johnson mistakenly claims "exclusive" on the main page, has been doing so all football season:

It's not not true, you can listen to live broadcasts by really good announcers on the Temple student radio station WHIP! They have great post game recaps too.

These little things add up to many big things being done wrong including leadership of the Owl Club!

Arthur Johnson hired his buddy Stan Drayton and I hope to hell he is either fired and/or not involved in the hiring of the next head football coach. AJ should be sent packing by new president John Fry! Thank god tomorrow is the last day of this pathetic staff with Everett Withers, he's going back to where he belongs in high school football!

Arthur Johnson: It was on me to find the right coach

Following the introductory remarks from Temple President John Fry, Athletic Director Arthur Johnson and new head coach K.C. Keeler, Johnson and Keeler spoke with reporters during breakout sessions.

You can read Johnny Zawislak's story on Johnson's breakout session here, which includes the full audio from the interview.

Scoop Saturday live show

Don't want to relive yesterday's game? I totally get it.

But our Saturday live episode of The Scoop included an interview with ESPN's Kevin Negandhi, who took listeners inside the hiring process following Geoff Collins' departure and made his case on why he thinks Elijah Robinson should be Temple's next head coach.

Send in your mailbag questions for The Scoop by 10 a.m. Tuesday

Good afternoon, everyone.

It's been quite a week (weekend?) in Temple football land. What's on your mind? Let us know in the mailbag and we'll talk about it on this week's podcast, which will drop Tuesday night/Wednesday morning in time for your Thanksgiving commute just so we can make that flight, train or car ride extra special for you.

We're taking questions until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Happy to talk about the coaching search, the future of the program, Thanksgiving sides .... whatever works.

Hope you all have a great week and a wonderful holiday!

Emergency pod: What's next for the Owls after Drayton's dismissal?

In case you missed it out on the front page, Kyle, Declan, Johnny and I recorded a Sunday edition of The Scoop to break down Stan Drayton's dismissal and where the program goes from here.

Join us at the South Philadelphia Taproom from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a live Scoop show!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

As we mentioned on this week's episode of The Scoop, we'll be doing a live Scoop show Saturday at the South Philadelphia Taproom from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bar opens at 10 and the kitchen at 11, and we'll there to talk about Temple's coaching search, the season finale and the Owls' Big 5 game later that day up at La Salle. We'll also be broadcasting on Streamyard so those of you not able to be at the Taproom can listen in, and we'll share those details in the upcoming days.

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff Neiburg, who covers local college basketball in addition to the Eagles beat, will be joining us at the Taproom, as will 97.5 The Fanatic's Ray Dunne, who will be on the call later that day for the Temple-La Salle game. I'll continue to post on this thread as we confirm more guests.

You can check out the details here, along with the Taproom's menu and drink specials.

Simon not the answer

After watching another debacle on both sides of the ball against UTSA, it is clear that Evan Simon is not the QB to lead us forward. Yes, he's by far the best we've got, but this game exposed him as having no mobility or escapability and a weak arm. His throw to Wright, who was behind the secondary only to see the ball intercepted because of being well underthrown, was just one example. He cannot get positive yardage on QB keepers and doesn't avoid many sacks. A QB such as UTSA's McCown is the type of player we need. Hopefully the next HC can find a QB who can both run and pass. I constantly hear on broadcasts how good QBs from powerhouse P4 conferences transfer because of lack of playing time. Maybe there is one in the portal for us with the right HC hire.
