Dr Theobold on WHYY radio @ 11 am tyoday

Dr Theobold will be discussing the proposed/possible stadium, along with two other experts. THey'll be live ffrom 11 to 12. A reply will be on the WHYY website this afternoon

This should be interesting. And diff than having Coach Rhule on for a mere 5 mins

Im NOT posting this on the other board. Im not impressed by the perceived IQ (real, sports, and otherwise) by a few of those posters

UConn

Great Temple win today!
UConn looking good early up 7-0 over Houston. Their RB Newsome is a stud and can rip off a 50yd play every time he touches the ball. They will likely be 5-6 when we play them and looking to get bowl eligible. Gonna be a tough game. GO OWLS

Palm Bowl Projection

As of his morning, he has a Temple playing in the Boca Raton bowl vs Ohio. Must win the next two games to avoid being disappointed in the bowl game. He has Houston in the Fiesta playing Ohio St. Navy would play in the Armed Forces vs Miami. Get to the AAC championship and I hope the consolation prize if we lose to Houston would be Birmingham (Memphis vs Auburn) or Armed Forces. #leave no doubt

Temple vs Utah game thread

Fourth game of the season and I think this is a biggie. It will show what Temple is made of. Are we going to bounce back from a winnable loss? Or do, end up going home 1-4 for the season? Is Obi ready to play and show that last game was a just an off day? Does Mark Williams get off the bench? Lots of questions!

By the way, I ran into Dalton Pepper's parents last night. He's playing in Italy and enjoying himself.

Freshman or not...

Alston and Lowe should really be starting in my opinion. And quite frankly, so should Aflakpui. I understand it's only 4 games, but as a freshman, Alston clearly seems like a much better player than Josh Brown, and Lowe seems to have much more versatility, size, and upside than Coleman. And Watson and an undersized Obi has been a disaster in the post these first 4 games. it won't get any better. So just let Aflakpui take his bumps so we have a true front court with size and girth instead of getting destroyed every game in the post -- not to mention getting Bond and Obi in foul trouble.

I like Josh Brown, but in reality he's really just a bench player on any other good team. He can't really shoot or create offense off the bounce, and he sort of meanders with the ball around the perimeter not really doing anything on offense. He doesn't make mistakes which is great, but ultimately a true pg is supposed to initiate offense with some play-making ability. What I see from Alston is a willingness to take (and make) shots off the bounce, and the ability to get in the lane. This team desperately needs play-making. I believe Alston can give it to them.

Coleman has played strong these first 4 games, but he's entirely too streaky and is still a very weak defender. If he's not making outside jump shots, there's not a lot to his game and the team struggles (as they did early against Utah)

The only excitement/enjoyment I've gotten out of this season thus far is watching our 3 great freshman play (particularly Lowe and Alston). Dunphy just needs to let these kids fly -- it's not like they have players like Dionte Christmas, Khalif Wyatt, Juan Fernandez or Ramone Moore in front of them. Outside of Bond and Decosey, watching most of our upperclassmen play is more frustrating that anything else.

Temple Marathon Impact

Ran the Philly Marathon yesterday with my "We The T" shirt on....and was absolutely blown away by the comments and excited chants I heard along the ENTIRE rout....coupled with shout outs from other Owl runners.

The best part was that the enthusiasm from the kids in the crowd was the highest of anyone - must've heard "Hey Dad, look - Temple!" about a thousand times. Cultivating a whole new fan base this year!!!!

Go Owls - Beat UCONN!!!!!!!!!

AAC Title Game

This is getting agead of ourselves, but here's why I'd rather play Navy:

1. Navy/Houston play Friday in Houston so whoever we play has an extra day of rest for title game. Having said that, I would much rather play Navy coming off a road win then Houston off a home win
2. That's a long plane trip for us as opposed to a two hour bus ride.
3. We played Navy last year at home (and also Houston on road). We are at least a little used to defending them and I felt should have beat Navy that day.
4. Many more of our fans can make it
5. Maybe I'm being naive, but almost any day of the week, as effective as Navy's offense is, I'd much rather face a team that only is a one-dimensional threat. (Reynolds attempted three passes yesterday, which isn't unusual for them).

Thoughts?

Temple - Utah .... Some thoughts

1. Dingle can't shoot fouls and missing both really hurt the team and that was followed by not fouling for 12 seconds ? Just a terrible way to play a close game

2. Obi played a fine game but he just can't play and have one rebound . Someone needs to take this kid aside and let him know that rebounding is one of the most important things he can do for his team .

3. Temple has been beaten by foul shots in the last two games . They are just overmatched underneath and I think Fran needs to play some zone to protect against having his few good big men always in foul trouble

4. We have two very good freshman in Alston and Lowe . Both are going to be great players for Temple . You can see they are destined to be quality players at this level . That they are playing major minutes tells you where Temple is this year .

5. I agree that you probably should have anyone on their big man but your best and only rebounder in Jalen Bond . I would have started Watson and let him get the normal two fouls in ten minutes . Oh did he ever hear of a zone !!!

6 why doesn't he use the zone press more often . He only uses it when behind . He plays ten players so why not use as a change up and do it more often .

7 I was surprised by DeCosey on the bench at end of game . Thought he should have been in game in lieu of Brown .

Dunphy Defenders...

I challenge any of you to defend a coach putting a team in position to lose (either by ineptness in game planning or under recruiting). Utah has one player - that one player cannot be the player to beat you - you make the other team adjust to win by taking away what they know - they teach this to junior high coaches. Instead of doing that, you take your only post player, who everyone knows will get in foul trouble, thus losing your best weak side rebounder and only post scorer. It's wrong to set up these students athletes to fail...
