congrats on another all American choice tonight and another defensive player of the year award on ESPN. Really sucks that they didn't show the award live though. Was pretty cool they interviewed him in the beginning but how can they not announce defensive player of the year award? Someone explain please

JDC/Kyle Recruiting FL and the Boca Bowl

Well, fellas here we are on the brink of our bowl game in a week and a half and do we know where we are with regards to FLA recruits and the Southeast in general? Have Evan Cooper and the coaching staff been out working that area leading up to the game? Are we allowed to have recruits at the game with comps, etc? Any news on the recruiting front? Less than 2 months to NLOI day!

What about recruits in our footprint?

Mayor-Elect Kenney Against Stadium

http://www.bizjournals.com/philadel...ve-mayor-elect-kenney-opposes-new-temple.html

"If the Eagles were living up to their commitment to Philadelphia and our public university, just as the Steelers live up to their commitment to Pittsburgh by renting their stadium for free to Pitt's football team, there wouldn't be a need for a stadium at Temple University," Kenney said in an email to the Business Journal. "There'd also be a winning team down at Lincoln Financial Field for a refreshing change."

Q is looking good. Bond has been strong on the boards. Obi has done nothing and has been on the bench for a while with 2 fouls. Mark Williams came in and drove to the basket and got fouled. Announcer called it a "speed move". Few minutes later, Williams threw up a brick from way out and is now on the bench. We have no post game and do not drive to the basket. Penn has been doing both and is only down by 4.

Toledo Coaches

I believe everyone is aware that Toledo's head coach, Matt Campbell, has already moved on to Iowa State and will not coach the team in the bowl game. They have promoted their offensive coordinator, Jason Candle, to head coach.

However, the linked article indicates the following:

While Toledo will have a full-time head coach in place for its bowl game, Candle will not have a full complement of staff at his disposal.

Four position coaches — Tom Manning (offensive line), D.K. McDonald (cornerbacks), Tyson Veidt (linebackers), and Bryan Gasser (tight ends, special teams) — have already joined Campbell at Iowa State and no longer are employed at UT.

Thoughts after Wisconsin game

DVR'd the basketball game so I didn't have to flip back and forth:

We should be playing zone, and full court pressing as much as possible. We get crushed on switches far too often.

Roster composition is laughable. Watson and Williams are a complete waste of scholarships, although to be fair, Williams played a good game by his standards.

We are severely undersized and have no other capable forwards save for a true freshman coming off an injury. No one has any ability to rebound or score in the post.

We badly needed a JUCO or 5th year 3 or 4 this year, and with an undersized 1, another skinny wing, and a raw center who needs to fill out all coming in, we still need a JUCO or 5th year 3 or 4.

Brown mostly good D but very little ability to get to the rim. Lacks anything reminiscent of a killer instinct.

Coleman should not be starting. Can't create his own offense. Zero ability to finish at the rim. Poor D. He should not be playing anywhere near as much as he is.

Q only player who can create offense and get to the rim consistently other than maybe Dingle. Q still floats away at the rim and rarely finishes through contact.

Obi not involved in offense. Floats around perimeter too much.

Bond is what he is, which is fine if you have a capable 5

Should be playing Trey and Shizz as much as possible, probably starting both over Brown and for sure Coleman at this point.

It was pretty obvious after about 3 minutes of the 2H that our starting lineup killed any momentum we had in the 1H. I actually think we played relatively decently despite being outmatched by Wisconsin's size. I thought our shot selection was mostly good, we just couldn't make shots and finish at the rim.

Marshall columnist on playing in the 2014 inaugural Boca Raton Bowl

Eerily to our situation. He states that Marshall chose that game for all the wrong reasons; location, local players, etc. when it was embarrassing to finish this historic 12-1 season with another blowout of a MAC team infront of approximately 15k people. The game drew 2.2million viewers, TIFWIW

McIlwain

Hearing that the PA Gatorade POY (South Carolina commit) could flip to PSU if they sign GA Mangus as their new OC (Will Muschamp not retaining him).

Everyone knows that James Franklin puts preference on snatching good recruiters (re: terry smith) so I wouldn't put it past him to hire Mangus if he knows that McIlwain will come with him.

It will be an interesting situation because McIlwain is also the #16 prospect in this years MLB draft.

Anyone here watch him play at Council Rock this year and can comment on how good he really is? Will be interesting to see how this plays out, seeing as how there is a new possibility he may lineup under center against us next September.
