Tony Carr

Got to photograph their game at St. Joe Prep yesterday. Carrs for real. Had 33. think Mardy Collins with a higher ceiling. Like him better than Jalen. Bigger and more athletic. Let's the game come to him. A true PG. Stephens is talented, great athlete but is an undersized 4. Need to develop an outside shot even of it's just midrange. Bostick's probably an off the bench guy.

Derrick Jones

Is done at UNLV due to an invalid ACT score. He may or may not be eligible to eventually play in college again. Dunphy should be speed-dialing Romanczuk and see if we can get him to transfer and potentially become eligible. He took the ACT's only once, in Baltimore. I hope Aflakpui isn't being investigated as well.
Jones could of course go pro, and play overseas or make himself eligible for the NBA draft.

Elvis Hines and Cesar Ruiz to visit Temple over spring break

2017 IMG Academy (Fla.) teammates Elvis Hines, a three-star cornerback, and Cesar Ruiz, a four-star center, will take unofficial visits to Temple over their spring breaks. Neither have a date set for when they'll be on campus, but it'll likely be at some point in mid-March.

Hines played his first two years of high school football at Paul VI in Haddonfield, N.J. Although it's still early in the recruiting process, Hines seems to be really high on Temple. His only other offer is from Old Dominion.

Meanwhile, Ruiz has a boatload of offers, including Alabama and Michigan. He played his first two years of high school ball at Camden High in South Jersey. Ruiz was offered by Temple last spring and camped on North Broad over the summer.

RECRUITING

Jeff Borzello and Adam Finklestein wrote a column today about the best recruiting assistant coaches in America. Dwayne Killings got some love in the under 35 category. He seems widely respected nationally, and maybe others know what he has to overcome to get players in here.

THANK YOU COACH RHULE

At this time I would like to thank Coach Rhule and the rest of the Temple staff for allowing my son to be a part of this transition with Temple football . Tim has asked and been been granted his release and will remain in school at Temple this semester as he looks at all his options. It isn't easy to get a life long fan of PSU to switch to a different school but MR did it , I will be keeping my season tickets , my owl club membership and am a fan of Temple for life!

Temple offers 2017 Western PA lineman

Temple extended an offer to 2017 Montour (Pa.) lineman Mason Cholewa on Wednesday, according to his Twitter page. The Owls are the second school to offer Cholewa, joining Syracuse.

"I know that Temple has great academics and a football program on the rise," Cholewa told OwlScoop.com.

A 6-foot-6, 255-pounder, Cholewa is being recruited by recruiting assistant Adam DiMichele, who reached out on Wednesday with an offer.

"He just congratulated me and told me that they like my film," Cholewa said of his conversation with DiMichele, who starred at quarterback for Sto Rox High School in Pittsburgh. "They like that I can play multiple positions too."

Cholewa, a McKees Rock, Pa. native (suburb of Pittsburgh), said that his preference is to play on the defensive line, but he's open to playing on the offensive side of the ball as well. He plays a combination of defensive end, defensive tackle and offensive tackle at Montour. It should be noted that Syracuse, which was the first school to offer, is recruiting Cholewa as a defensive lineman.

In addition to his offers from Syracuse and Temple, Cholewa is also receiving interest from Arizona State and Pittsburgh.

Temple's last recruit out of Montour High School was defensive lineman Tyler Haddock, who signed with the Owls in February 2013. Haddock never enrolled on 10th and Diamond, then ended up at a Junior College in Iowa and signed with UAB last month.

According to MaxPreps.com. Cholewa had 25 total tackles (four for a loss) as a junior. Montour finished the 2015 season with a 6-4 overall record.

Mailbag questions

Hi, everyone.

We're recording The Scoop later today and taking mailbag questions, so please post them here on this thread if you have them.

To keep things current, we're recording the football and mailbag portions of it around 4:30 today and then adding basketball stuff after the game, so I wanted the football questions to be directed here. Spring practice is less than two weeks away (March 14), so we'll have plenty to talk about there.

Thanks in advance!
