Our guest this week is Fran Duffy, the video content manager with the Eagles. Fran was the video coordinator at Temple before graduating, and he now evaluates a lot of draft prospects as part of his job with the Eagles. Gave us some great stuff in terms of evaluating Tyler Matakevich, Matt Ioannidis, Tavon Young, Robby Anderson and Kyle Friend.

Temple has interest in Georgia Highlands JUCO forward Immanuel Griggs. He's 6'7" (or 6'8" depending on reports) and originally committed to Arkansas State in the fall. A bunch of schools are looking at him including Iowa St., Cincy, NC St., ECU, Fresno St., FIU etc.

I feel really happy for all the former Temple recruits that just won a National Championship. They made the right choice to attend a program that does whatever it takes to win. The recruits, the University and the fans deserve all the accolades for not only what they just accomplished, but more importantly for further exploiting the gross incompetence of our Basketball staff, BOT and Athletic Department.

It absolutely killed me to give up my Temple Basketball season tickets I held for 17 years a couple years ago, but it was the right decision. I simply will no longer support a program that is not doing everything they can to win.

If our Athletic Department is not savvy enough to know all if the recruits we lost to Nova, how we have been out recruited by the like of St. Joe's and Lasalle, how we offered scholarships to kids like Kyle Green and TJ Dileo, how a kid like Ryan Brooks was considered a good player for us......than I really can't expect a change anytime soon. It has just become too frustrating knowing more than they do.

I mean, can you possibly imagine any big-time program not only hiring an Ivy League Coach, but allowing him to bring an entire Ivy League Staff, none of which had ever offered a scholarship in their entire career??? Well not only was that scenario permitted here but it was embraced. We all know it happened in the watch of another Athletic Staff, but this athletic staff presumably was savvy enough to know the details of that insanity, observe the tournement record and the level of recruit and still extended the contract?!?!

None of it makes sense to me. None of it, and as such, I won't be affiliated with it. It's just too frustrating. I hope one day to not have a BOT made of of Villanova grads and people that are Trustees for other Universities. Perhaps one day we will have a Chairman of our BOT that doesn't give more money to Villanova and Penn State than he gives Temple. Then and only then will we see a pattern of change.....

Per a source, Temple extended an offer to 2017 Battlefield (Va.) three-star defensive end Brailyn Franklin, who also holds scholarships from schools like Kansas, Maryland and Virginia Tech.

2017 Blair (Md.) linebacker Eric Zokouri, who visited on Saturday, was back at Temple for an unofficial trip on Tuesday, according to a source. Zokouri is still waiting on his first offer, but the Owls seem to have legitimate interest.

I was at today's practice and got a chance to speak with linebackers coach Mike Siravo, wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson, wide receiver Marshall Ellick and cornerback Nate Hairston. Matt Rhule also met with reporters for nearly 20 minutes. Here's the link to my report from practice, which includes audio of all five interviews:

The total number of bowl games will remain at 41 according to ESPN. There were at least 3 additional games proposed to be added to the slate. Of the 80 schools that played this year, 3 had losing records.

What is his status? I think someone mentioned he had surgery -- is he back playing?

Also, I noticed he is up to 239 in weight -- maybe they are thinking of moving him to a DE role?

Went to see a friend's grandson on the Old School Cavs last night at the Donofrio Tourney in Conshohocken.

(My friend's grandson got his father's looks and his mother's height; it would have been better for his hoops career the other way around -- terrific basketball instincts but probably a D-II because he's maybe 5-9 heading into his senior year)

Second game: Cavs vs. Chester County All-Stars

Cavs are Lamar Stevens' team. Stevens was everything you'd expect.

But the guy who really impressed me was Cameron Reddish (6-7 junior shooting guard from Westtown). he scored 20 - I like the way he sees the court and he was going hard all the time. Good hands, went to the rim for rebounds.

Judging from the list of interested schools, Temple has no chance. But I DO encourage Dunphy to recruit him so we can see how good he'll look in a Villanova uniform. [This WAS intended as sarcasm when I wrote it.]

There were a couple of Church Farm kids on the Chester County All-Stars. Fred Odhiambo (sophomore) and another kid (a junior) whose name I cannot remember. Both about 6-9/6-10 and still colt-like because they haven't quite grown into their legs and arms (and feet).

Also, a couple of shooters from Coatesville on the Chesco team - senior Rome Boyer and Hogarth (?), who I think is just a freshman. That was hard to believe because the kid's instincts (knowing when to pass, etc) were terrific.

First game: James Fox vs. We R 1.

We R 1: A kid from Notre Dame in Trenton, Isaiah Wong. Another freshman. Gorgeous shot. Real court presence, especially for a kid so young.

James Fox: Lots of freshmen and sophs. No one stood out the way Wong did but team came back from 12 down to cut the lead to two or three mid-second half. Nice moxie.

We go back to the Donofrio April 6.

Someone on the Nova board said they have been hearing "some interesting things" about Carr and company. Anybody know anything? Is there anything?

2020 is when Fran's contract expires. I have no respect for Theobald or Kraft if they let this continue, and I have no faith they know what they're doing to advance the health of the athletics department. I most certainly won't trust them to do anything major like build a stadium and land Temple in a Power 5 conference, especially if they can't do something as simple as see the light of day that Fran Dunphy is no longer fit to advance the Temple Men's Basketball Program.

In 2020, it will be 19 years since we have advanced to the second round of the tourney. Let that sink in! Tomorrow's recruits were in diapers in 2001. The situation, in my opinion, is dire. We are approaching the danger zone of irrelevance. As we have seen with Lasalle, it is a very dark place to be.

We as alumni need to make our voices heard. If Fran's seat is not hot, we will make it so. It's time the TU administration respects the voices of the alumni. I was really glad to hear some in the local press ask Fran the tough questions this tourney; however, it is too little, too late. We need a change fast! How is building a new stadium the right move for Temple?

If they want to be in a mid-major conference, building this stadium might be the answer. Mid-major schools' stadiums are close to that capacity. If they aspire to be in the Power Five conferences, if their answer was we want to be big time: Why build a 35,000 seat stadium in North Philadelphia? Gone will be the games of the Penn States and Notre Dames.

This has got to be about the most egregious abuse of a coach-player relationship I've ever heard of. (No doubt someone is going to raise the question of who was the initiator, but that's irrelevant. He as coach clearly should have exercised better judgment.) Besides that, . . . 25 years old, and head coach for the past two seasons. How likely would it be that any 23-year-old gets a head coaching job in any sport at any level . . . if he's not the son of a legend?

So Matt Rhule did not have the team practice today. He said during the media session that he hasn't been happy with the team's attention to detail and that they were not worthy of practicing, so he didn't have them practice. We'll have a quick story up with audio from his interview and an interview with Avery Williams later tonight.

A few quick notes to pass along:

David Hood practiced Saturday for the first time this spring.

Rhule continued to praise the work of Ryquell Armstead. Avery Williams did as well.

Williams mentioned that Marshall Ellick is having a great spring and when Rhule was asked about him, he told the story of an NFL scout who came in and asked, 'Who's No. 84?' So it would seem that Ellick of course has to put that potential into practice and continue to make plays in practice that get him into games this season.

It also seems that Nate Hairston continues to make strides in locking down that other starting CB spot. Rhule mentioned that he likes what he has seen from Artrel Foster, but he's dinged up again, and that's continued to hold him back. He also mentioned Derrek Thomas' name as someone who continues to improve in the defensive backfield.

If anyone is going to the Donofrio semis tomorrow, I would like to meet up and say hello. Match the name with the face, if we don't know each other already.

Wow...what an impressive performance from Nova...I am stunned,,,to see them at the end of "one shining moment", would be a nightmare come true!!
