Anyone know years this was used as part of Temple's mascot? I purchased a pendant from someone over the weekend and he said it was from the 1940s, but interested to know more if anyone knows about the origins.

Per a source, UNC Greensboro transfer guard Tevon Saddler hasn't heard from Temple. Saddler considered transferring out of Greensboro two years back and considered Temple and Butler, but ended up sticking around at UNC-G for the time being.

Saddler, who left UNC-Greensboro in November and sat out the 2015-16 season, averaged a team high 13.4 ppg as a sophomore.

I'm putting this out there because we brought Saddler up during the podcast last week. For a team that loses Quenton DeCosey, Devin Coleman and Jaylen Bond, one would think that Saddler would be able to come in and provide an immediate scoring spark.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Charles Barkley he made an interesting comment after the Syracuse/Virginia game. Charles suggested that the difference between good and great teams in the tournament is the ability of their coaches to make the right in-game adjustments. Obviously he was pointing to Jim Boeheim switching up the Syracuse defense that completely changed the outcome of the Syracuse/Virginia game.

Fran may be a guy who can prepare well for a game however when I look at Fran's history I don't see a guy who can make in game adjustments and alter the outcome. If Fran is going to continue to struggle with recruiting more talented players then he'd better present a look that superior teams aren't used to seeing. Playing man to man against teams with superior talent is a losing recipie. John Chaney's match up zone defense presented a unique challenge to teams that weren't used to playing it. They often won games against more talented teams because those teams were unsure how to attack the match up zone. Same thing with Syracuse when they changed their D tonight against Virginia.

Pretty good read. Some pretty interesting takeaways. My biggest point pulled from this was Nova's use of their Midnight Madness event as a recruiting tool for local talent. I've got into some rather heated debates about Temple's lack of a Midnight Madness event with the administration and fans. Basically, they don't see it as a benefit.

Available again as a grad transfer.

The Arcidiacono thread got me thinking of changes the athletic department/basketball program should make this offseason to take this team to the next level. I am sick and tired of seeing this team forced to overachieve with Plan B recruits when the University is booming in every sense and the football program is gaining so much momentum. Hopefully ideas can be brainstormed and directed to the athletic department. We can only hope that the Iowa loss along with Villanova's run/SJU's win motivates Dunphy to recruit his ass off this summer and next year to make one last push. If I were in his shoes, I am making sure I have the talent to make a March run so that does not hang over my head after my career is over.

-Update the Liacorus Center with a new floor design that catches your eye on television (ESPN). The current floor has been unchanged since the early 2000's. Although the majority of the board dislikes the Owl logo, the wings inside the 3 point line when the Apollo opened was unique and a feature of the Temple brand.

-The television broadcast stand needs to be centered at the Liacorus Center. Does anybody else notice how bad our games look on TV? It is because the camera well is set up in section 214. The first row of section 213 needs to be renovated to accommodate a centered camera well.



-Go all-in with Cherry and White Night. This event is supposed to kick off the season in grand fashion by getting students excited and introducing recruits to the program.

2017 The Boys' Latin School (Baltimore, Md.) defensive end Victor Dimukeje, who holds 20 D-1 offers, is on Temple's campus for an unofficial visit on Thursday (today), he told OwlScoop. 2018 Saint Joseph's Regional (N.J.) defensive end Dorian Hardy, who holds offers from Michigan, Boston College and others, is also on campus.

Good story by Patrick Paul on the freshman wide receiver from North Ft. Myers, Florida. With him and RS freshman receiver Cortrelle Simpson, we are going to have some speed at WR. Plus I love Ventell Bryant, Romond Deloatch, Brodrick Yancy, Adonis Jennings and Keith Kirkwood. We definitely have depth at the wide receiver spot, and that's not including the other freshmen recruits, in addition to Johnson, like Randle Jones and Isaiah Wright.

According to an article on Philly.Com by Marc Narducci, Coach Rhule said the redshirt sophomore has moved to safety from wide receiver.

What would petewon want to see Temple build on most this spring practice? Hopefully after Doc gets settled in heaven, he'll return as an angel in the backfield and trip up Penn State DBs.

Temple will check out 2016 Scotland Performance Institute (PA) big Cheickna Dembele tomorrow, according to Corey Evans.

Dembele, a 6-foot-10, 235-pounder, currently holds offers from Boston College, NC State, Charlotte, Iowa State, La Salle, Missouri, Providence, Saint Joe's and Saint John's. He is still waiting on an offer from Temple.

Temple still has two scholarships remaining for the 2016 recruiting class and they are looking to add a traditional big man. The Owls have already signed Mississippi forward Damion Moore, DMV point guard Alani Moore and upstate New York two guard Quinton Rose.

I've always been fascinated with the idea of allowing everyone in. Let the regular season reciords and conference and team RPIs set the seeds and then allow the NIT to pick from those teams who are available after a couple of weeks of elimination.

Doc passed away yesterday. For anyone that knew him, he was the backbone of Temple Football, especially during the lean years. He will be truly missed.

FWIW. Spoke to a really knowledgeable BIG source re: tomorrow's game. Said Uthoff and Jok will be a 2 best players on the floor. Also said, Temple's guards are way better than Iowa's. Said Anthony Clemmons is one of the best defensive guards in the BIG. He likes Temple to win.

Playing some incredible ball right now. Bembry balling like the lottery pick he will be but it's Lamar Kimble who is really impressing me. Kimble was somewhat overlooked due to the amount of quality guards in the city over the past year or 2 but he is playing with some serious stones in the final minutes of this game.

Shirt color aside (because lower seeds occasionally win), Dunphy has now coached 19 games, taking the court at a seed average of 10.53 and gone 3-16 for a 15.8% winning percentage. Since the Tournament expanded to 64 teams, 14 seeds are 20-104 for a winning percentage of 16.1%.
