Conference Splits?

Of course, this is just a football coach talking, but what if some rebellious schools bolt their conferences? What if those conferences respond by telling those schools not to let the door hit you . . . ? When the resulting smoke clears, would there be an opportunity for Temple? Just speculating . . .

2 FCS wins count for bowl eligibility in 2020

The NCAA has relaxed the bowl eligibility rules for 2020 by allowing FBS teams to have two wins vs. FCS teams to count. A .500 record will still be required for bowl eligibility if teams only play 10 games.

This may have some impact on scheduling for those conferences that have not gone the conference-games-only route.

Of course, this all assumes that there will be regular season games and bowl games, too.

The Scoop with Colin Thompson - mailbag questions

Carolina Panthers tight end and former Temple standout Colin Thompson will be back on The Scoop with us this week one last time before he reports to camp in the NFL, so please feel free to send a mailbag question here for Colin or for us as a staff.

We'll of course talk a lot about what Colin is expecting as he heads down to be reunited with Matt Rhule and several of his former teammates as he fights for a roster spot, but we'll also talk a lot about the 2020 edition of the Owls, position battles, the obstacles ahead for having a season and anything else that comes up.

We'll take mailbag questions up until 2:30 p.m. tomorrow.

And here's your friendly reminder to subscribe to The Scoop on Apple Podcasts or wherever you access your podcasts and to rate and review us as well.

Thank you!

Why Four and Five Star "busts?"

Asking for Owlfan thoughts about highly rated players who did not meet expectations in college.

Please Google "4-5 star recruits who came up short for Gators" in the Gainesville Sun (I'd link but reads are limited).

Since the players plainly have the physical ability, what are reasons why individuals do not do as well as hoped? This relates to Temple's demonstrated success in developing 2-3 star "diamonds in the rough" into professional players.
