Mailbag questions for The Scoop

As I just mentioned on the basketball board, we're recording at 2 p.m. tomorrow in order to get a podcast out before the holiday.

We'll recap the Cincinnati loss, preview ECU and talk about what's ahead for Stan Drayton, his staff, recruiting and everything that's to come in his second season on North Broad Street.

If you have mailbag questions, please drop them in here and we'll answer them on the podcast.

Thank you all for listening and best wishes to all of you for the Thanksgiving holiday.

ATTENDANCE

Saturday's crowd was listed at 26,681. I'm sure it's legit on paper. I guess a lot of season-ticket-holders were no-shows.

But there were half that many people in the stands, and I'm being generous with that guestimate. I get it, we came into the game 2-3 and have been and up-and-down team. Plus East Carolina isn't a sexy opponent, but ...

As a lifelong die-hard Temple football fan, it's sad that there is so much apathy for the program.

Temple Vanderbilt

If there's another thread I can post this under, I didn't see it, so I'm starting this here. I hope McKie coaches to end this team. I hope the kids come out throwing haymakers. More importantly, I hope they spend the whole second half throwing haymakers. Win by 15. This Vandy team just lost at home to Southern Miss by 12. A win is a win and I'll take it however we get it but man would a dominant victory in this third game go a long way to erase the stench of Wagner send a message about who we are.

Checking in on redshirt statuses

With just two games remaining in Temple's season, I thought it would be worthwhile to check in on where players stand from a redshirt eligibility perspective. Entering the season, 25 scholarship players still had the option to redshirt and retain a year of eligibility. From the looks of it, 13 of those players are likely to receive a redshirt. As a reminder, a player no longer has to be injured to receive a redshirt, they just can't play more than four games in a season.

I've broken the players into two groups below, guys that have no chance at a redshirt due to playing too much and players that are likely going to redshirt. For the players in the first group that return next season, they'll still have the opportunity to redshirt in future years.

No chance at a redshirt

OT: LC on TV

So I saw this was mentioned elsewhere, and I wanted to elevate it to its own thread — mostly to get it the attention it deserves by those who can hopefully get something done about it.

The last two games have appeared very dark on TV and the colors have even been off. At first I thought it was my TV, and changed the brightness setting to check. Nope that didn’t help much. The Cherry on the court was also extremely dull too.
Later, I saw others post about this in various places. I also saw clips of the game on YouTube and it’s very obviously dark.

I’m not sure who controls the camera— if it’s TU or the network but something should be done about this. It’s absolutely terrible and it’s new. This was not a thing before.

Monday November 7 - Wagner @ 7pm

We've played Wagner one other time. We won 70-62 on 12/01/2012. I don't remember this game at all. Was the Jake O'Brien year. Khalif Wyatt went for 26 points. Scootie Randall added 10 pts, 9 boards, and 4 assists. The win got us to 5-0 on the season.

Here's to a future where we care about all this stuff more than we have in the past 5 years. I'm very much looking forward to getting out and supporting.
