The worst thing Temple’s admin can do in hiring the next coach…

is not pony up the right amount of money to get a qualified coach and recruiter. This isn’t the time for an experiment. This is a brand in free fall that requires someone with experience and chops to right the ship. This must be a coach that has made it to the NCAA tournament.

If we pony up only 80% of the funds needed, it’s still not good enough. This is a pass / fail exam.

Mailbag questions for The Scoop

The football team is on spring break this week, but we're here to answer questions about the Owls if you have them. Send in your mailbag questions by 12:45 p.m. tomorrow, and we'll answer them on this week's episode, which will include an interview with Colin Thompson.

Colin talked to me about the challenges of this past season with the Panthers, what it was like to see his former head coach at both Temple and Carolina in Matt Rhule let go during the season, and the the friendships he formed with players like Christian McCaffrey.

And if you haven't already, don't forget to check out this week's special episode of The Scoop with former Temple and New York Jets star Joe Klecko, who will be enshrined this summer in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Scoop: Season 8, Episode 30 - Our interview with John Baum

John was kind enough to spend some time with me prior to Thursday night's game. Great conversation about his life and career, including an anecdote about how Skip Wilson was recruiting him to Temple as he refereed one of John's games at Peirce College.

The interview starts around the 8:55 mark of the pod. Hope you enjoy it.

Lancine Turay made a physical transformation this offseason

Defensive lineman Lancine Turay gained 25 pounds during Temple’s offseason program.

After losing defensive lineman Darian Varner to Wisconsin via the transfer portal, Temple needs a few players in its defensive line room to step up, including Turay.
