These are all great moments. They all make about as much sense to me as Temple scoring 40 pts against South Florida in the NCAA tournament or Juan Fernandez' lane violation against San Diego State. But I chose to focus this poll on positive moments we've had. Enjoy!

Stan Drayton's staff is actively looking to add a quarterback to the program, preferably one that's a little older to fill the gap between EJ Warner and Tyler Douglas. One such target is on campus today, as Purdue transfer Mike Alaimo is visiting Temple.

According to WPVI Action News, Jason Wingard tendered his resignation to the Temple BOT effective 3/31/23!

Stan Drayton spoke with reporters earlier today on Zoom. We'll have Max Dinenberg's story up shortly, but here are a few takeaways from today.

Drayton is encouraged by what he has seen from JUCO addition Ben Osueke at cornerback and said playing man coverage is going to be more of a reality for the defense this year.

Drayton said the running backs fumbled three times during Saturday's limited scrimmage, which he obviously wasn't thrilled about. When talking about midyear freshman enrollee Kyle Williams out of Harrisburg High School, Drayton said he has shown the ability to create and will be a problem for defenders when he gets into space. He did also mention that Williams held the ball out over the goal line on a scoring play, which Drayton noted is something the don't coach, so some typical freshman habits are there. Having said that, Drayton also said Williams scored on a busted play, so it appears he's making some things happen.

In talking about the offensive line, Drayton said Victor Stoffel, James Faminu and Richard Rodriguez have all missed time as they continue to work on getting healthy. When I asked about Diego Barajas and Melvin Siani, Drayton sounded legitimately excited about both players based on his tone. He said Barjas is more of a versatile interior lineman, and Siani has been seeing first- and second-team reps at tackle.

The Net rankings were released Monday and Temple is #157. These will obviously keep changing but the AAC is struggling after Houston at #1 and Memphis in the 20s. UCF/Wichita State are in the 90s, Cincy/Temple is in the 150s, Tulane is 191 and 4 are in the 200s (ECU, USF, Tulsa and SMU at #281).

A positive is 4 of the CUSA additions are in the top 75 (FAU #23, UAB #54, UNT #67 and Charlotte #72) so hopefully that continues into next year. Houston is playing at such a high level but the AAC may not be much different metrics wise next season.

The other 2 additions (Rice and UTSA) are in the 200s and 300s which would hurt obviously.

I've posted this over the years going back to like 2016. It was admittedly a little more enjoyable back then because I would try to point out Temple basketball isn't what we all think it is and there were still people out there who would fight back. Nowadays, I don't know a single poster saying "everything's fine." Anyhow, here is the long list of schools who have made it to the NCAA Tournament second weekend (Sweet 16) since Temple last did it. The first stat of interest is we are up to 93 total schools. There are 363 division 1 schools according to BetMGM so 25.6% of all the schools have done it since Temple. Some other things that pop out...

- 3/5 of the Big 5 have made the Sweet 16 since Temple has not. The only school not to do it is UPenn.
- 4 schools have done it as a 15 seed.
- The majority of the A-10 has done it & the schools that have not are all traditional Temple A-10 rivals that I guess are truly our peer Universities (Duquesne, Fordham, GW, Rhody, St Bona, SLU, and UMASS)

If nothing else, this interests me. Hope it interests you.

Regardless of what the outcome is against FAU, I am thoroughly enjoying the way FDU plays - fearless, relentless and athletic. Their enthusiasm is contagious and I hope our next coach can instill the same attitude in our Owls.

The NCAA tourney struggles continue for coaches named Fran. McCaffery and #2 seed Iowa just got beaten by Oregon in the round of 32. He has lost in the round of 32 all six times he has made it there.

The “Frans” (Dunphy, Fraschilla, McCaffery and O’Hanlon) are 10-33 overall and have never made it past the round of 32.

No Philadelphia team in the tourney and Penn State a contender. Talk about a bizarro world.

We talked to Dionte Christmas about the coaching search, why things went wrong for Aaron McKie and the Owls and what it will take to win again at Temple.

Like 13 years ago, I was in my 20’s and out drinking beers. I was probably 5 deep and saw a kid with a Rice t shirt and I started lecturing him about how we’re both Owls and so we’re family. He kept walking. Maybe it was just his way of showing love?
