The Other Board

I don't usually bother to spend time looking at the other board as I am really turned off by the negative back and forth banter. I had some time this evening and was reading where this fellow Delgreco Wilson, who some of you have mentioned, is slamming Temple posters and calling them racists specifically because of posts by VillanovaFan. The following is what he has attributed to the poster:
"Villanova Fan: These idiots would loot and burn sh!t up every day of the week if they could get away with it. Acting out of revenge for the shooting lets them do it for now….
11/25/2014
Villanova Fan: they have no pride in their neighborhoods. that is why inner cities look like they do. if they cared about Ferguson they would have protested peacefully and tried to honor the life of the dead. NAH lets burn our own city to the ground, that will solve everything.

11/25/2014
Villanova Fan: [Officer Darren] Wilson should get a medal. Who knows how many future murders he prevented.

11/27/2014"
I bring this up only because some here have suggested Mr. Wilson attempts to direct Temple targets to other schools and that he uses examples as those above to prove his perception of Temple people being racist. Apparently Wilson tutors athletes putting him in a position of influence over many of these kids. He seemingly isn't aware Villanova fan is like 14 years old, and certainly isn't a student at Temple. So he is condemning posters, and the University, over the rantings and perspective of a 14 year old. This is important in that, according to Wilson, Sedee Kieta is one of his clients. Anyone have additional insight where this matter is concerned?

Offense

I apologize if this is already a hot topic in another thread, if so please point me towards it. I only have like 15 minutes time vent my frustrations.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy with the win. Good teams do find a way to win these games and even the best teams have letdown games so I am not in any way focusing on the UMass game at all.

Having said that, I am deeply concerned with the offense. I am seeing the exact same non-rhythmic offense that I saw last year. The difference? I actually think we have the talent this year to have a pretty decent offense. PJ has his limitations obviously but a good coaching staff knows how to work around them. Dating back to last year, there is not one offensive staple that I can point to and say "that is what Temple likes to do on offense". They have no identity. Im sure there are some rare instances, but I challenge you to come up with a time where we scored points and it didn't involve a trick play (double reverse pass to PJ, the old roll out and throw back to opposite field for Jahad or Jamie Gilmore running the wheel route) or didn't involve Jahad Thomas juking out the entire defense. If these two things don't happen, we have nothing. As an offensive coordinator and play caller you have to find something that your players do well and capitalize on it, you have to find a way to establish a rhythm for them. And right now, if Jahad doesn't juke out the entire defense or we cant hit one of our go to trick plays, we have nothing. What is our offensive identity? All good teams have one, west coast coaches have the short passing game, rex ryan is ground and pound, how many great spread offenses do you see across college football that spread out a defense and impose their will? Its not even just the good teams, even SMU and Tulsa do damage on offense. As much as we hated it, even Daz had an identity. What is our identity? Trick Plays? Screen play to Jahad and hope he performs another miracle? I don't want to be a downer but this scares me. I think its a shame b/c I think we have the talent on this team to be special, and the defense certainly has it together. But IMO, the offense looks like an unorganized mess going into year 3 with PJ and Satterfield. Based on the offensive talent we have, it really shouldn't be, but most likely will be our downfall.

AAC East

Gunnar Kiel was knocked out of the game with Miami (Ohio). He has a concussion. They go to Memphis, who squeaked by Bowling Green 44/41, on Thursday. They need that game if they hope to keep up with the Owls.
ECU lost to Navy. Maryland downed USF. UConn was edged by Missouri and Furman upset UCF.
The East is ours to lose.

Grabbing a win from the jaws of a loss

You don't always play your best and you still need to win . We did and the way we played and how we won will long be forgotten in November . Look at it this way , even if they win only 5 more games ( 5 and 4 the rest of the way ) then you have an 8 and 4 season .

I think everyone can see that temple now has to work on two big phases of their game if they want to be 10 game winners . Consistently running the football and pass defense . They are solid in the other areas but these two are the ones they need to really practice .

No matter what , Temple is 3 and 0 and you can't take it away from them . Making plays at the end of the two games has them undefeated .

We are clearly on guard for a trap game against the Minutemen. Will the Owls prove themselves worthy of a national ranking and win by a healthy margin or will they cause the Owl fan base to be looking for the nearest AED?
