Nice going OWLS, pulled out a tough WIN

UCF really crowded the line but the OWLS found a way to win. Ugly game, tense to say the least, a lot of conservative play calling keeping UCF in the game. 0-6 team, with a great coach made it difficult. The 4th quarter was a thing of beauty. I wish the 1st and 2nd were better, but too many mistakes. But a determined effort, poise late in the game earned the OWLS a win. Sometimes things are not easy, especially if you are a 21 point favorite. They over came the errors and rolled in the end.

GO OWLS!!!

Need Help With Tickets

I called the Owl Club today who gave me the number of the Temple ticket office who told me the Notre Dame game was a sellout and has been for two weeks. Yea! One problem. I don't have tickets yet. I waited because of ill health on my part which made traveling a risk proposition. Well, today my wife and I made the decision. We wanted to go.

I don't want to go into the details of my illness but I get very tired easily so I need two tickets that are easy to get too. Anyone have two tickets in the handicap section just above the 100 level on the Temple side? Seats very close to the top row of the one hundred level are possible. I can't navigate stairs very well.

Anyone with any help please contact me ASAP because I still need to make plane reservations from Denver and hotel reservations near the airport. My phone number is 303 770-1961 or answer this post.

Thank you.

NJ SCHMITTY TAILGATE - LOT K PARKING HELP

This thread is actually being initiated by Barry Edwards - the brother of NJSCHMITTY (real name - Dave "ED" Edwards). Frank was kind enough to allow me to use his account to post our plea for help. Thank you Frank!

As many of you know, we (Schmitty's family) are planning to have a large tailgate party at this Saturday's game in honor of Schmitty and are using it as a fund-raising event to support cancer research at the Temple Fox Chase Cancer Center. We are calling it "Meatballs For Melanoma" and will be offering lots of meatball sandwiches and other food items in exchange for donations to Temple Fox Chase. It seemed like a perfect combination of circumstances since Schmitty died from Melanoma and Saturday will be Temple's "Cancer Awareness Day" game.

We planned to hold the event in the vicinity of Schmitty's legendary tailgates along Tailgate Row: however, we have not gotten much cooperation from the Temple administration in securing three designated parking spots in which to set up our tailgate - including the legendary big red "T" on top of a van! They have pretty much told us to get in line early and hope for the best.

We plan to do our part by getting there extremely early in hopes of being the first in line. However, we are concerned that we still might encounter problems if we don't have Lot K Parking Passes and instead try to pay cash. Accordingly, we are trying to get some LOT K Parking Passes to eliminate that potential obstacle. That's where we are looking for your help! If anyone has a Lot K Parking Pass for this Saturday evening's game (vs UCF) that they will not be using or would be willing to sell, we would love to be able to use it. We need a total of 4 passes: however, I think we may have lined up 2 already and may only need 2 more. If you can help us out, please feel free to contact me directly via my cell phone (610-272-4818) or via email at ebarrye@gmail.com so that we can arrange to pick up/pay for your permit. Thank you!

We remain optimistic that we will be able to set up our tailgate in or near Tailgate Row, so come visit us on Saturday! Look for the "Big Red T" and for all the smiling folks wearing shirts with "NJ SCHMITTY" on back! Come hoist a can of Natty Bo with us in honor of my brother - and your friend - NJ SCHMITTY. His legend lives on!

Hope to hear from you soon.

GO OWLS!

Meatballs for Melanoma

I spoke to Cheryl Edwards, wife of Ed " NJ Schmitty" Edwards and she asked me to post on this
board that she and her family and friends will be holding a ""Meatballs for Melanoma" benefit
for Temple University-Fox Chase Hospital.

Place: LOT K Lincoln Financial Field ---look for the red Temple 'T"

Time: Starting mid afternoon before the TEMPLE-UCF FOOTBALL GAME SATURDAY 10/17

Venue:Meatball sandwich on roll, drink, "koozi"

Cost: MAKE A DONATION FOR THIS VERY WORTHWHILE CAUSE!

Personally I would like to note that Ed's wife, brother, daughters, grand kids, In laws,
and a load of friends and neighbors have been Temple University elite fans and
followers for many years. They will all be attending and honoring the memory of ED.

NOT ONE OF THEM IS A TEMPLE GRADUATE OR EVEN ATTENDED TEMPLE

Ernest Aflukapui

Im Sure others saw the basketball team signing autographs at halftime of the game Saturday. Was a nice surprise, all very nice young men, my 4 year old son was mesmerized by them as we got his poster signed. What really stood out to me was just how big Ernest is as a freshman. He was sitting down at the table so I am not referencing his height but he looks like a big, powerful, grown man. Much bigger in person than I had expected from an 18 year old kid.
