Mailbag questions for Khalif Wyatt and Ari Rosenfeld of Elite High School Scouting

Good morning, everyone.

I'm interviewing Ari Rosenfeld of Elite High School Scouting later this afternoon to ask him about Temple's recruiting targets in the 2024 and 2025 classes, and I'm talking to Khalif Wyatt tomorrow during lunch. Still determining how we'll distribute all of that content over the next two weeks in terms of the podcast and premium content for subscribers, but you'll all have access to all of it regardless.

If you have mailbag questions for Khalif or Ari, please drop them in here by 3:30 p.m. today and we'll get to as many as we can.

Thank you!

Mailbag questions for this week's episode of The Scoop with Trey Lowe

We're talking to Trey Lowe this week for the next episode of The Scoop. If you have mailbag questions for Trey or for us about the roster, staff, recruiting or something off-topic, please drop it in here by Friday at 1 p.m. and we'll get it answered for you on the podcast.

Trey, as I'm sure you all know, was a top-150 recruit for Fran Dunphy as part of Temple's 2015 class and just spent the 2022-23 season on Fran's staff as his director of player development at La Salle. He's also going to be an assistant coach on the Broad Street Birds TBT team.

I hope you all had a great holiday and we look forward to answering your questions on the podcast.

Thank you, as always, for listening!

1. TUFB was 25-15 in the MAC, compared to a losing record in the AAC.
2. The MAC schools are more aligned with the TU's BOT support and vision for athletics.
3. MAC schools payout nominal amounts to NIL, much like TU and below AAC averages. The TU AD doesn't support or believe in NIL, just like the MAC AD's.
4. TU Alumni and student body support is startling similar to MAC schools.
5. So what's it going to be? Stay in the AAC and continue to watch the developed college world pass us by, or return to the MAC and dominate?

Roster update

With Nate's announcement last night, I wanted to provide an update on where I hear things stand with the roster.

Nate is likely not returning. Things could change because of COVID, but the outcomes are as follows. He gets drafted...., he goes to Europe, he grad transfers, he transfers, or he returns. His plan was to graduate in August but I'm not sure if classes will even be available this summer. Him returning also implies Aaron has a spot for him to return to. I don't know if that will be the case.

Josh will not be returning. It never worked. I was hesitant to confirm anything prior because, hey, he's 18 or so, but I've heard from too many people that "he never bought in." Another word used to describe him was "malcontent". He often told teammates that he would have been happier at UNLV and poo poo'd the situation at Temple. Nate was a good soldier and solid culture guy. Josh was not. Deep down, I don't think he ever wanted to be here and Aaron knows you need guys to buy in, especially when you're rebuilding.

This was not a coincidence posting back in February, which seems like 1,000 days ago.

I think that should be it for departures. There's an outside chance we may see one more, but I think it's slim.

Not getting Barry hurt. We beat out schools like Michigan, Georgetown, Pitt, Iowa State, and Wake Forest. We just didn't beat out his loyalty to Dartmouth.

They're still after JUCOs, grad transfers, and standard transfers. I think they're in good spots with guys that they like.

If you have questions for Ben or for us as a staff, please drop them in here and we'll answer them on the podcast.
