Drayton has quite the extensive resume and I’m guessing a good network to build from. Although nothing is out there figured I’d start a thread discussing potential names. Charlie Strong and Kyle Flood are the first 2 that come to mind.

If I set the Over/Under win total the rest of the season at 4.5, what are you taking?

Did anyone else catch Stan Drayton's press conference? I thought he came off pretty well. There were some nerves and emotion, whoch are fine, but he said the right things and made a stronger case about his historical and emotional connection to Philadelphia, particularly North Philadelphia and Temple. He talked about viewing Temple with affinity while he was at Penn and Villanova, as a place whose "ruggedness" he identified with as a "inner-city kid" from Cleveland and how he wants the surrounding community to be part of how he develops the program and its culture. I thought that was a good note to strike.

He also talked about how there is enough talent in the greater Philadelphia region to built what he wants to build, especially as you then expand into South Jersey, New York, and ... I forget exactly, but I think he also mentioned Maryland, Washington - the places you'd expect.

Just walked in. Having a girls' weekend and having fun.

Talked to The Squeeze. He recorded the game for me.

Said it was as bad a basketball game as he's seen them play. Ever. And we were at the Mardy Collins Senior Night loss to Fordham, which I've always used when comparing low points.

He also said the Funk should have gotten a technical when Dunn did - double technical.

The Scoop: Season 7, Episode 18 - Temple hires Stan Drayton

Drayton's introductory press conference will take place later this morning at 9:30 a.m., and we'll have you covered with as much content as we can get from the day.

Per multiple sources, I've been told that Temple expects to sign four of its class of 2022 verbal commitments Wednesday. All six remain verbally committed to the Owls, I'm told, but these four players are expected to sign National Letters of Intent Wednesday:

Corey Yeoman
Jackson Pruitt
Mahki Green
Sam Martin

Interim head coach Thad Ward has been running point on recruiting. If a new head coach is named prior to Wednesday, be it Fran Brown or Stan Drayton or anyone else, it'll be interesting to see how things go there.

Played good defense but you can‘t win at any level shooting like this . In fact, you can’t even be competitive with a very mediocre UCF team shooting like that.

Compare the fan comments. It’s really night and day. Every Drayton comment about how he deserves it. Every Carey comment how he can’t recruit, or win a bowl game and they were happy to see him go.

An early look at Temple's 2022 recruiting class

I found out this morning that West Orange High School's Makhi Green is waiting on the new head coach before making his decision. Reese Clark and Khalif Kemp remain verbally committed but will likely not sign if they do until February.

Interesting article on The Athletic that polled a bunch of high school coaches. It semi focuses on Schiano's return to Rutgers and how he's done but there are some other interesting quotes/takeaways.

Which out-of-state schools do the best job of recruiting your players or the state of New Jersey?
Coach 3: It was Temple because they had Fran Brown as their defensive backs coach, but now he’s at Rutgers. That same passion he had for recruiting, teaching and developing young men is now at Rutgers.

Coach 4: Maryland does a solid job. You get relationships with certain guys and certain guys always call you because you have a relationship with them. I think Temple does a decent job. The University of Virginia does a solid job as well.

Which college head coach do you trust the least?
Coach 1: Coach (Steve) Addazio, when he was at Temple. I had a really bad relationship with him. (Former Temple coach) Matt Rhule is my all-time favorite college coach — and it’s because Addazio did so much damage with our program at Temple. Addazio is the least trustworthy of them all, in my estimation. He really hurt the program because he really damaged relationships with coaches. I’m not the only person who will say this, but he used to sprinkle offers all over the state and then renege on the offers. That was regular. And he tried to broom two of my players out who were recruited by (previous Temple coach) Al Golden. I have nothing good to say about him.

Coach 8: James Franklin is a guy that I trust the least. I think he’s a showman. Watch him on the sidelines. He doesn’t wear headsets. I don’t think he’s involved that much in the game plan. He is a recruiter and a snake oil salesman.

Coach 9: Locksley. … Addazio is another guy. Steve is the most arrogant man I’ve ever met in my life. He could piss off the Pope.

Which assistants in the region has impressed you the most?
Coach 3: Fran Brown, now at Rutgers. It’s not even close.


There's also a question about does conference matter to which most of the coaches said it does not. I would have to respectfully disagree with them all.

It was announced today by the city that “any establishment in Philadelphia that sells food or drink for consumption on site will require all patrons or staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID 19.”

Effective Jan 3.

And that definition sounds like the Liacouras Center to a T.

So if you’re heading to a game after the first of the year, make sure you have your vax card or a photo of it. If you take a photo, take a photo of the front and back because some places are more strict than others.

Maybe there’s somehow a loophole that will allow Temple to get out of this requirement but I’d imagine Temple appreciates the cover they’re getting from the city and will happily enforce this.

Tulane pausing operations due to COVID outbreak

NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane is temporarily shutting down its men's basketball team because of a COVID-19 outbreak.

The Green Wave is canceling upcoming games against Texas A&M on Tuesday and Grambling State on Dec. 18, the university said in a statement Saturday.

The team also will not hold any meetings or practices during the shutdown. The university did not specify how many players or members of the coaching staff have tested positive or when the tests were performed.

Tulane said it expects to play next on Dec. 21 at home against New Orleans
