Grabbing a win from the jaws of a loss

You don't always play your best and you still need to win . We did and the way we played and how we won will long be forgotten in November . Look at it this way , even if they win only 5 more games ( 5 and 4 the rest of the way ) then you have an 8 and 4 season .

I think everyone can see that temple now has to work on two big phases of their game if they want to be 10 game winners . Consistently running the football and pass defense . They are solid in the other areas but these two are the ones they need to really practice .

No matter what , Temple is 3 and 0 and you can't take it away from them . Making plays at the end of the two games has them undefeated .

We are clearly on guard for a trap game against the Minutemen. Will the Owls prove themselves worthy of a national ranking and win by a healthy margin or will they cause the Owl fan base to be looking for the nearest AED?

OK, big let down game for TU, UM playing best game ever, YET

Temple FINDS a way to WIN. You have to give these kids credit for GRIT, blocking that extra point, running it back for 2 points, then some fantastic catchs, and ICE man comes in and drills a field goal!!

Winning football games ain't easy, especially against a super hyped Umass team with a potential pro QB, but the Owls find a way. Yes, lots of criticism, turn overs, fumbles, conservative play calling and defense was bend down break.

You really have to give credit to Umass, but in spite of this, the Owls Pull out a Win.

GO OWLS!!!

Value Of a Successful Program

I have owned football season tickets for many of the the years since I graduated in 1970. We all know the few up periods and the many down periods this program has lived through. I know it is only 2 games, however, the positive P.R. from this great start is amazing.

My wife of 45 years and I live in New Hope Pa. New Hope, particularly on weekends is a town loads people like to visit. I often walk through town with my Temple gear on (TU golf shirt and coaches cap). I can't even count the number of folks who high five us, pat me on the back, give us a thumbs up and said many positive things about the football program AND the university in general. As an Owl Club member, and a proud alum, we need to keep the train rolling. Keep supporting the program both verbally and financially. It's just so refreshing to hear the positive comments! Go Owls!!

Game watch this Saturday

Hey Folks...The manager at Master's pub on campus confirmed that they can convert Saturday's game onto the pub TV's from the internet.

If any of you plan to go...please weigh in here over the next day or so. Since they are usually somewhat quiet on a Saturday afternoon he was asking for an idea of attendance (which is virtually impossible) so he can staff accordingly. Keep in mind this is not a University sponsored game watch....just sayin.

Here is a link to the pub:

The Broad Street Dummies Podcast

Hey All - Long Time First Time

About a year ago my buddy Nick and I started talking about producing a weekly Temple Sports podcast. We spent nearly 2 hours talking/texting Temple sports each week and thought why not record it and if anyone listens, cool. Well after acquiring the gear, going through multiple practice pods, and spending time figuring out how to get it published we are proud to say The Broad Street Dummies Podcast is now live on iTunes. It's still much definitely a work in progress but if you are Temple obsessed like we are and need more Temple talk in your life I hope you subscribe and listen!

You can look us up on iTunes, the podcast app, or download here. We appreciate your support!

Thanks!

Tony Carr

Look..I don't know if everyone can tell but I do not wear "Cherry Colored Glasses". I don't accept where this program has been going the last few years. I blame a lot of that on Coach Dunphy. That being said you can not fault him for missing on Tony Carr. I will not get into specifics but you just can't blame him on this one. However, what you can fault him for is not spotting this for the beginning and grabbing Traci Carter when he was a realistic option.

New 2017 offer

Temple offers 2017 F/C Nicolas Claxton who plays in SC. He is #121 in the Rivals150. He also has offers from South Carolina, and Murray State, and interest from NC State, Baylor, Georgia, Miss State, USCw, LA Tech, and more. Rivals lists him at 6'7. Everywhere else lists him at 6'10.
He plays for the USVI U17 team. He averaged 11 points, 8 rebounds, and nearly 5 blocks per game during the Centrobasketba tournament (Caribbean, Central America, and Mexico). 11 PPG was 13th in the tournament, 8 RPG was 10th in the tournament, and ~5 BPG was 1st in the tournament. Interestingly, the top player was Roman G/F D'Andre Vilmar, who played for the Bahamas.
