Saturday's visitors

So far, I know that Imhotep's Johncarlo Valentin (4-star offensive guard), Camden High School's Brad Hawkins (4-star Michigan commit) and Archbishop Wood quarterback Anthony Russo (3-star Rutgers commit) are among the players who will be guests of Temple at Saturday night's game.

We'll keep working on getting more names for you, but those are three I know of so far.

ESPNU

I was watching Hoover (Ala.) vs. North Marion (Fla.) on ESPNU, and during the game the announcers put up a graphic with Matt Rhule's face and they were talking Temple recruiting. It was unreal. The color man, Craig Haubert, ESPN's recruiting guru, along with Tom Luginbill, was talking about how many kids Temple has signed in the past three seasons, and how many three-star players and the one four-star player we've signed. And they were just effusive about Rhule.

It was all positive and they talked about the Owls for a few minutes.

By the way, Hoover and North Marion are both loaded with D-I commits.

What's worse?

What's worse: getting blown out or losing the way that we did? As the players said, there is no such thing as a moral victory TO THEM. We came so tantalizingly close, it's gut-wrenching. The game was there to be had. Four drops by Bryant, two by Christopher and one by Thomas, that may have gone for a TD, did us in. Will Hayes came so close to an INT on the TD pass to Fuller that I thought he had it.
Kudos to Tavon Young for playing Fuller as tough as he did. The Refs wouldn't know pass interference if it hit them in the face. The defense did a great job on stopping Prosis. Too bad about that one run by Kizer where everyone was totally faked out.
We showed the nation Temple Tuff, but it wasn't quite enough. So what's worse? Having our guts ripped out by a game we could and should have won, or getting beaten handily as expected by the majority of the country?

WHAT IS TRULY IMPORTANT ? ..... NOW

This weekend was almost a perfect score of 100 . The reason I say almost a 100 is we lost the game . Okay give us 99.9 . It was so good that it was almost surreal . It was almost dreaming !!! The good this weekend did for Temple University , its name across the nation and Temple sports couldn't be duplicated maybe ever .

We have been talking about a stadium . 100M and beyond for cost . Is this truly the most important item on the agenda ?. Not even close .

Making sure our coach stays with us until he collects social security is the most important item going forward . I know he is signed until 2019 or something . Those deals all have escape clauses and places like Texas , SC , Miami , USC etc will all be looking into Matt Rhule .

I would rather spend my money on a dynamic coach is just exudes winning the right way than worry about a bunch of bricks .

I also would like to mention the atmosphere at the LINC. I think we are ACC bound in a year or two so I don't want a stadium that holds 30K without the amenities for tail gaiting and the like . I think we can draw more than that with a better schedule and Matt Rhule here . Sorry but you need to speculate .
I think 50K a game average if we make it to a big time conference .

Give a raise to Matt Rhule and take away the conversation that he is going anywhere . Double his salary !!!

Game day looks great

I am speechless at the impressive showing of the Temple Nation on Gameday. The signs and displays are creative and moreso the size and enthusiasm of the very large crowd. You are great!

Wish I was there. Will be in spirit, at a sports pub on St. Augustine Beach. I'll watch my Gators beat the Dawgs, hang around for my Owls to beat the Irish and convert new friends to Temple, then ask the bartender to call a cab to take me home.

GO Owls!

Just my thoughts today.....

It's almost here. Tomorrow, we are all Owls, Philly. For everyone who has faced insurmountable odds....the naysayers.....the "why do you even bother" people. From high school days at the Vet watching Gerald "Sweetfeet" Lucear...to Franklin Field...to the Linc....for the Kleckos, Henry Burris, Boo Palmer, Pot Roast, Bernie & the Bug, Lance Johnstone, Big Mo, Tanardo Sharps, A-Rob ❤️RIP, Coach Al, Tyler, Matt I, Jahad, PJ...and Coach Rhule.

I don't need to even watch this game to know that these Owls are winners, in every sense of the word. 1-10 to this- you kids deserve this ALL.

WE THE T!!!!

I can't wait - and thank you for the camaraderie, good and bad, through all the years on this board. I'm usually pretty quiet, but I had tears in my eyes just listening to the radio on the way in today, so had to dump it here....gonna be a mess tomorrow after this win!!!!

Information on College Game Day...

Folks, I sure don't have conclusive information on this issue, but I thought I'd start a thread where concerned people could share.

What I've been told:
Most of us have heard there will be 40 buses going from Main Campus to Independence Mall. This begins at 4:45 and could accommodate upwards of 1,500.
I spoke to a Park Ranger on the scene as to whether the Parks Dept would let folks sleep there overnight to which he responded "I open that building first thing every morning and there's tons of people sleeping on the mall. That ain't gonna change now." Off the record, again, they're expecting by park work hours at 0730, 5,000, well inebriated students, alumnae, and well wishers. Sounds like a fair showing, but running approximate numbers, at a standard density of 4 people per square meter, it could accommodate ten times that (just shy of 60k), so Parliament, if you're on the fence, step it up.

Seventh Street between Walnut and Market should be closed to parking due to construction.

Septa's 5th Street Station is serviced by the El ALL WEEKEND LONG, 24 hours a day and runs every 20 minutes. The Broad Street line also runs 24 hours.
