The Golden Hurricane has been a thorn in the Owls’ side since joining the AAC. Temple is 2-7 all-time against Tulsa and 2-5 as members of the AAC. Temple is also 0-3 at The The Reynolds Center, losing by 16, 19 and 18. Last February @ Tulsa the Owls missed their first 12 field goal attempts to fall behind 24-0. Tulsa is the only team in the current AAC that Temple has never defeated on the road.

In 2014/15 the Tulsa loss at home was part of a three game stretch that undoubtedly kept Temple out of the NCAA Tournament. With Temple leading by 11 in the second half Tulsa’s D’Andre Wright committed a hard foul on Will Cummings. Will would leave the game and the Owl’s withered down the stretch to lose by 7. Jesse Morgan went an unbelievable 0-13 from three point range. Will would come off the bench to only score 1 point in a home loss to SMU and not play at all in a blowout loss @ Cincinnati. With one win in that stretch against that season’s top of the conference the Owls were probably in the NCAA field.

This year Tulsa is 13-10 overall (3-7 conf), but 11-2 at home. Their best home win was vs Kansas State. They haven’t played since losing at Witchita State last Saturday. Tulsa is in the top 100 of today’s NET ranking (98, Temple is 50), so it would be a quality road win for the resume. Will be a tall task but here’s hoping this year’s Temple team has the grit to win in this hostile environment.
