We have now had 4 consecutive teams that have really been poor at one end of the floor. The 3 previous teams couldn't guard at all, and this team couldn't put the ball in the basket. The problems were exacerbated away from home. For the season in road and neutral court games, Temple shot 366-988 or 37%, and were 103-327 from 3 or 31%. You can guard like hell, but at some point you need to be able to make a basket in an unfamiliar gym with a crowd not rooting for you.
Hopefully, Dunphy will make this a point of emphasis and fix this the same way that he fixed the defensive woes this past season. A team that is good at one end and at least average at the other would be a refreshing change of pace.
All in all, this was a very good season. Temple got its MOJO back and rediscovered how hard you need to compete to guard at a high level.
