From talking to sources familiar with the situation at the men's basketball win over No. 17 Houston Wednesday night, the OwlScoop staff learned that Northern Illinois coach Rod Carey is the frontrunner for Temple's head coaching vacancy.
Carey and Temple have not come to a formal agreement as of Wednesday night, but the two sides could complete a deal as early as Thursday.
Marc Narducci of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Carey was "expected" to be the front-runner Wednesday morning.
Again, it's important to note that nothing is official. A deal could still fall through, but we've heard that Carey is currently the favorite to land the job.
We'll continue to pass along credible information that comes our way.
