The criticism of UCF's SOS is the main reason (maybe the only reason) that they are not in contention for the playoffs. Theoretically, if the Knights played a tough OOC schedule and was undefeated, would they still be left out? The problem is that schedules are made so far in advance, that what may seem like a tough opponent today, may not be by the time you play them. Still, winning against 4 P5 schools plus ranked teams in the AAC should put you close to the top 4.
