I will never ever excuse Villanova for their part in keeping us out of the Big East a few years ago .
I am writing this more because it is a local team and most of us know the players on their team . It gives us an easy way to compare where we are as a program vs. one that is truly a high national program . Villanova is so far ahead of us in almost every category [ coaching , recruiting etc ] . Just watch the games and you will see we are not even in the same league with them .
Great recruiting allows you to do more as a coach on the floor . Better shooters , athletes and leaders on the floor gets you where Villanova is right now . They are recruiting very talented four year players and not recruiting one and done's . To see them play defense and share the ball is just fabulous if you are a true basketball fan . They are playing the right way and everyone on the team is for the team and couldn't care less about individual goals.
This is the difference between competing with the big boys and total mediocrity .
