Anthony Russo is now 4-1 as a starter in his first 5 games. The last quarterback to do this I believe was Chris Coyer who came in as a sub against Ohio rallying us in a close Tuesday night game in 2011. We'd eventually lose the game but Coyer was electric.
To finish the 2011 season, Coyer went 3-0 including a win in the New Mexico Bowl against Wyoming. He started the following season with a win against Villanova before dropping consecutive games against Maryland & Penn State in 2012. What's tricky is if you just look at the team results that year, Coyer did not play in the regular season finale, a win against Kent State. We won the game. But it robbed Coyer of a chance to start 5-1 in his first 6 starts.
Going back to the 90's... the Ron Dickerson and Bobby Wallace eras, no other quarterback has gone 4-1 in their first 5 starts.
Can anyone that has watched this program for the last 40-70 years recall a quarterback starting 5-1 in their first 6 starts as such will be the case if Russo beats Cincinnati?
...I've also seen enough football in my life that I know if we pull even half the redzone stunts we did against Navy, we aren't going to beat Cincinnati.
