Are the students on Thanksgiving break already? Saturday afternoon, it looked like 99% of the seats in the student sections, starting in Section 118 and heading toward the tunnel to the end zone, were empty.
As usual, the crowd was a huge disappointment for me. Besides the students not showing up, there were empty seats everywhere throughout the lower bowl. Didn’t even look like 15,000, IMO.
I don’t understand. A huge game, a chance to get to 7-4 against a USF team that is one of our main rivals in the AAC East. A team that has long featured high-powered offenses. Any AAC East game we host should draw at least 25,000.
Maybe im being unrealistic, but the apathy about the Owls really kills me. We have a nice team that plays well on offense and will continue to get better on defense as we continue to add talent over the next few years.
Saturday afternoons/evenings and the stray Thursday Night games at the Linc are the most enjoyable time of the year for me. I just don’t get the apathy. The tickets are cheap as dirt, the tailgating atmosphere is awesome, it’s nice to watch a game in a big-time stadium, even though the Eagles hold us hostage.
If we had beaten Villanova and Buffalo to begin the season and we were now 9-2, instead of 7-4, would we be drawing 25,000?
Are we destined to never draw 25,000 or more?
