As you all know by now, next season will be Fran Dunphy's last, and Aaron McKie will be the program's next head coach, starting in 2019-20. This is one of the possible scenarios we outlined last week in the "Update" thread.
A source I spoke with earlier today said all of the final details are still being ironed out. Once McKie's new contract is finalized, there will be an official announcement from Temple, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. The source I spoke with did not anticipate that Temple would hold an official press conference about the move, but we will pursue interviews with both McKie and Dunphy. Dunphy is at the Final Four now, and McKie was still in Philadelphia as of earlier today to get everything finalized. I doubt either one of them will be talking to anyone on the record until this becomes official, but I guess you never know.
Either when this is finalized or soon after, you'll see McKie named as the program's associate head coach, and he will head up recruiting efforts immediately, from what I've been told. So if you see guys like 4-star Roman Catholic forward Seth Lundy, 3-star Imhotep forward Donta Scott and maybe even 4-star class of 2020 recruit Ace Baldwin take a closer look at Temple, you'll know at least a little bit of buzz has been created with this move.
As of now, no staff changes are immediately imminent, but I would not be surprised to see an addition to the staff in some way, shape or form before the start of the upcoming season.
