The way the team is assembled CURRENTLY, I think it’s fair to say that 2018 will not be a tournament year. Alani cannot handle 40mpg at PG (some already mentioning him and Caravhalo will be gone). We will likely have NPL playing PG because we need Shiz to play off the ball/screens. I think a lot rides on the progression of D.Moore and if he can be a threat inside. Obi is gone, and honestly that will probably hurt our 3pt % and that’s it. Brown is gone, but hasn’t been Josh Brown since 2016, so again that’s fine. We know Big Ern has stone hands and will not draw any doubles next year. I think we are looking at 18-14 at best. For us to realistically have a shot at the tourney, before our stud freshman class has their Junior and senior seasons, I think Dunphy needs 2 grad transfers that can make an immediate impact. Unfortunately Temple is not a destination for an immediate impact player anymore, ala Jake O’Brien.
I’m sure @NorthBroad and some of the other guys that have a better knowledge of how the team is assembled have a better idea of the state of the program and it’s roster, but i just don’t see many scenarios where we make the tournament next year. For those keeping tabs, that would be 1 tournament appearance in 6 seasons.
Lastly unless Parks can make an immediate impact, that will give us 4 “bigs” on next year’s roster that aren’t a lock to be a double-double threat.
