These are the guys that all the sports writers refer to for things like play count and other obscure statistics. Essentially, they watch and grade every player on every play. It's subjective, of course, but they're pretty accurate, in my opinion.

I think this might be from behind the paywall, but it's just a excerpt. From their top 25 rankings:

(One last thing, even with the subscription you can't see individual grades for college, only NFL. I haven't received a response that explains why)


22. Temple (22)
Another surprise team with the chance to go undefeated, with Notre Dame the toughest team left on their schedule. Big wins over Cincinnati and Penn State early in the season got them the attention they deserve. On defense, defensive end Haason Reddick (+11.1) is really starting to find his form, with two big games in each of the past two weeks.
