I cancelled my subscription two years ago. My job situation was in flux, so I became overly austere and weeded out a lot of subscriptions at that time (Netflix, Hulu, Owlscoop!! etc). I was also really fed up with the state of Men's hoops, and became very disenchanted with the University I love. That said, I kept my football season tix and annual tiny donation to the College of Lib Arts, but every chance I got -- emailed the AD and President seeking change at the hoops HC position.

We got change in the form of an announcement of McKie succeeding Dunph. While I was happy, I wasn't sold.

Well, now, I'm SOLD. McKie has average talent on this team, let's be honest. There are no 5-star recruits, maybe a couple 4-star? Either way... he has them playing as a TEAM with ENERGY. DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE, and BALL MOVEMENT. We don't have any bang bang shooters, but the fact they are moving the ball and being so unselfish is giving these guys a real chance. They play fearlessly, and after their close loss to MD I have no doubt they will attack any opponent with the mindset that they can win. If we get into the NCAA tournament... well, watch out.

I've been watching every game this season like it's a tournament game. I almost have to laugh at myself because I'm cursing and clapping at the TV like a total quack on every possession. When I reflect on why it matters so much to me - it's because there is energy again. That's all I've wanted - energy and a better chance to compete. That alone can will us to a few wins we might now otherwise get.

It's fun to watch this team grow together!
