I thought we could centralize a thread for the new AD search.
From what I've been told, I think it would be highly unlikely that Craig Angelos would be named the next AD. He didn't do anything to inspire the people who would sit on the hiring committee.
Mark Ingram has ties here but I don't believe there is a simpatico relationship between he and Kevin Clark. I also don't know if he'd take the Temple job or if he's waiting for a bigger jump to a P5 job.
There's really no one else in the department that could be bumped and the only two people affiliated with Temple that have a modicum of background needed would be Jeremy Wang and Jeremy Jordan. Wang is now the AVP for Development university wide and Jordan is the head of the School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality and is the faculty athletics rep for the department. I could maybe see interest on Wang's end if he decided to go athletics track over development track. I've heard Joe Giunta and even Bill Bradshaw. No flippin' chance.
Outside of the school, the only people I know who've worked here and/or have ties to the school who are in positions to maybe make the jump are:
Sherryta Freeman - I'm almost certain she'll get an interview.
Brian Beacham - Too inexperienced but could make the jump eventually.
Herman Frazier - Does he come home to end his career? I doubt it but who knows.
Eric Roedl - Part of the old regime. Has done well at Oregon.
None of the aforementioned scream "hire me!" This leads me to believe that one of two things could happen. Kevin Clark retakes the role now that the blood has dried from the team cuts. This doesn't make much sense because he already oversees athletics and overly encroached on the last AD anyway. I see this playing out with a national name. Do I think KC would hire someone he has no ties to at all? I don't.
So a national search could lead us to our own backyard. Temple does love a parochial hire.
Grace Calhoun - Already in Philly. Has the IU ties. Took a very similar path to PK.
Some other random names: Ryan Bamford, UMASS. Graham Neff, Clemson. Mike Hill, Charlotte. Mark Ainutt, Buffalo.
It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
