Heard a little about this last week but wasn't confident enough about it to go with it. Temple has signed Mahmud Dioubate, the younger brother of Karamo Dioubate, to an NLI.
Dioubate spent last year at Garden City Community College but is originally from Philly's Bartram HS. Dioubate was the co-MVP of the 4A Public League in 2017 as a quarterback but enters Temple as a general athlete. Could end up at safety or wide receiver.
Dioubate redshirted last year at GCCC so he should have four years of eligibility left.
Here's Temple official press release:
PHILADELPHIA (2/6/19) – Today, on college football's National Signing Day, the Temple Owls added Mahmud Dioubate to the Class of 2019.
Dioubate, the brother of current Owls’ senior defensive tackle Karamo Dioubate, is a junior college transfer from Garden City (Kan.) College. He graduated from Philadelphia’s John Bartram High in 2017 where he played quarterback.
“We are excited to add Mahmud to the Class of 2019,” said head coach Rod Carey. “He is a very talented athlete who we know will see the field for us.”
“Without many scholarships available, we had two goals in mind during this signing period. The first was to confirm the commitment of the very talented student-athletes who signed their NLIs in December. The second was to forge strong relationships with the high school coaches in Temple’s recruiting footprint. I feel very good with what we were able to accomplish.”
