As you all know by now, Girard College/Team Final forward Mikeal Jones visited Temple yesterday and later got an offer from the Owls. He also has offers from Villanova and Penn State.
A source I spoke with who's familiar with Jones' recruitment said Jones "loved" his visit. Although Jones is currently considered a class of 2020 recruit, he could very well reclassify to 2019, which could - as I understand it - help Temple's chances.
The source said that as of now, Temple and Penn State would be the two main factors in his recruitment. Villanova offered him when Ashley Howard was there, so expect La Salle to get involved now, too. Marquette and Indiana are recruiting him but haven't offered him yet.
Matt Vender mentioned on The Scoop yesterday that he saw Jones with Aaron McKie, Chris Clark and Shawn Trice yesterday. I'd have to imagine he met Fran Dunphy as well, but the source I spoke with said Jones spent the majority of his time with McKie and Clark. The source thinks Temple has a very good shot with Jones.
Again, we all know these things are fluid, but if you're looking for some buzz following the McKie announcement, it's growing. Rivals still has Jones as a 3-star recruit in the 2019 class, and again, that may be where he ends up. He's ranked by 247 at No. 120 in the 2020 class.
