It seems Penn State was the only school that recruited the 6-9, 250-pounder from the Phelps School, via Math, Civics & Sciences in Philadelphia.
I saw on Watkins' 247Sports profile from 2014-15 that Drexel and Temple were interested, but neither offered a scholarship, just PSU.
He would look good in a Temple uniform. He's a big, strong kid who can really rebound and block shots. His offensive game is improving every day. He has a lot of upside.
If JHG or anyone else on the board can explain to me why Temple didn't go after Watkins coming out of high school, I'd love to know the reasoning.
In 9 games played this season (he missed one game), the redshirt sophomore is averaging 12.3 points per game and 7.6 rebounds. He also has 33 blocked shots in his 9 starts and 10 steals.
