Mark Williams' deficiencies have been discussed ad nauseum, but at least for one minute (actually 61 seconds) he was the best player on the court yesterday. In a crucial sequence with just under six minutes remaining and Temple trailing 54-50 Williams' big minute went like this:
5:56 remaining: Hustles back on defense to block layup attempt by Walker that would have put UCF up 6.
5:49: Again hustles (lumbers?) back down the court to score in transition on a nice feed from Trey Lowe, which cuts the deficit to 54-52.
5:28: On UCF's ensuing position draws an offensive foul call on Mcbride turning UCF over.
5:09: Hits a three pointer to put Temple up 55-54.
4:55: Grabs the defensive rebound after a UCF miss.
So, Williams stat line for those 61 seconds: 5 points, a block, a rebound, and a drawn charge. Not bad!
