We rarely play well in Florida, but that said I believe the Owls can beat UCF if the following things fall together.
1. We have to be healthy. That means we have to have Armstead and Freddie Booth-Lloyd on the field contributing.
2. Our offensive game plan has got to be balanced, pass & rush, and we need to conduct extended drives. I am no fan of OC Patenaude, and his inability to make adjustments or identify what is working, but let's pray he can put Russo and the play makers in positions to make first downs. If we can do this it leads to-----
3. Keeping our defense fresh, and off the field for as long as possible. UCF has many weapons and if we can keep their D on the field, we will allow our D to not get gassed in the 4th quarter. As I reflect back on the BC game, it sure seemed we hung with them until the 4th quarter when the D appeared to falter with BC's hurry up offense.
This is a critical game for the Owls, both for the conference lead, but also for the future. We have gotten a number of talented players from Florida, and a win down there will provide us with additional street credibility for recruiting. Plus it is a Nationally televised game and a win would be very, very big for the program. Let's hope we play as well at UCF as we did against Maryland.
