There is more than one report that James Madison is lobbying for entry to the AAC.
I really like JMU as both a university and as an athletic program - all sports and especially football and both basketball teams.
They have the ability to be instantly competitive in multiple sports. JMU is a pretty big school and bigger than many of the AAC schools.
However, they are similar to another ECU although their teams are better top to bottom and a better school academically.
Also, although they have a ridiculously great fan base (better than U Del) that is clearly very active in the DC area, they're still a small market school with a questionable TV market and similar wow factor for those that aren't regionally aware. Frankly, they have a similar fan base to UVa without the street cred.
I am not for JMU admission to the American but I thought I would throw this out to the peanut crowd for your thoughts.........
