Yes, we won today, but it was against an overmatched and outclassed Stony Brook team. The offense should have scored on every possession, but there was some bad play-calling, some lousy execution (especially by the QB), and a "not ready for prime time" OL. There is no excuse to give up a sack or have negative yardage plays against a team like this.
The defense looked better, but against inferior competition. Still a shutout is a shutout.
However, next week will be a different story. PSU scored 39 points against a good P-5 opponent, while we scored 38 against a weak FCS team. Our defense may be ahead of the offense, but we'll still have to score in the 30s to win at Happy Valley. I don't think our offense is up to the task.
